06: Discipling the “Ordinary” – Hit the Mark — 3 Comments

  1. The one thing that I've come to notice as of late is that as humans I can almost say it is our nature to seek the Lord or a source of comfort and strength when we are at our lowest point in life or when we have "hit bottom".
It is in very rare cases that a well up person/family should seek Christ's guidence/help/power or fulfilment in their lives simply because most of those people are of the idea that they "have it all" and thus seeketh not anything else.Yet the very same people are those whom we as the remnant appear to be more concerned about, believe it or not..there is a higher chance of souls being converted from amongst the poor and the suffering.

A wise man once said that the man whom he considers to be the poorest is the one whose his health faileth. That being said I strongly beleive that it is high time that we started taking the MEDICAL MINISTRY SERIOUSLY mostly because there is no guarantee that the physically poor man will see tomorrow. What if that person accepted Christ today and died tomorrow?? Wouldn't you have archieved a great thing for our Lord?; Wouldn't you have earned yourself good blessings?? Remember that through Christ we all have got immeasurable potential.Stand up today and make a difderence is someone's life, that is what Christ has called you to do.

    • Obrien, thanks for your comments. There are certainly unique challenges in reaching the rich with the gospel. But that does not mean that we should not give them the same intentional efforts we give to the poor. They need salvation as much as anyone else and my guess is that there are many in that class who are longing for direction that only Jesus can give.
In a few weeks the lesson will focus on the wealthy and I hope that it is discussed that one size does not fit all when it comes to how we evangelize. A wise and experienced fisher will use different baits for different fish. There's a lesson in that for us.

  2. Discipling the ordinary is an eye opener to me anda wake up call to do all I (we) can to extend the good news of Jesus Christ saving grace to those we classify as lower class or third class citizens in society. There is a potential in them that God can use to draw many unto Himself if such individual accept Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour.
