In an effort to “get us,” the enemy tells us lies, half-truths and even complete truths (in deceptive ways) in his effort to get us to doubt our Salvation. Let’s look at a few of his arrows.

Satan says that God doesn’t really love us
One of Satan’s most successful lies is that God doesn’t really love us at all – that He’s out to get us.
Satan will point to things that are happening in our [...]

This week’s introduction runs just over 8 minutes and would be great as a Sabbath School introductory video. You can see previous videos at the SanctuaryLesson Vimeo Channel. If you haven’t seen last week’s introduction, we suggest you view it before the current one, because the two videos together help to simplify what some see as a difficult subject.

Thanks to the work of a small team of volunteers at Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen (link to video tour), a Seventh-day Adventist seminary in Austria, we can invite lesson author Dr Martin Pröbstle into our homes or our Sabbath School classes to introduce the lesson. The introduction to “The Pre-Advent Judgment” runs just over 7 minutes and would work well as a video introduction in a Sabbath School class.)

Since 1981, when I began preaching in high school, I have preached in many churches from Chiclayo, Peru, to Torrington, Connecticut. I have spoken to large and small congregations with various needs. I have illustrated to some conservative churches the need to be a little more liberal, and to liberal churches, how to be a little more conservative, as we all seek a Christ-like balance.
One Sabbath several years ago, I was preaching in one of the most conservative churches I [...]

We live in an age where everybody is worried about protecting their rights. There is the right to defend ourselves, the right to privacy, and so on. This is nothing new. God provided Esther “for such a time as this” when God’s people needed someone to defend them. The NSA of the day was following Daniel around, and found him praying in an open window. Apparently he was not so concerned about his privacy. He had nothing to hide. Even [...]
Martin Pröbstle’s introduction to Lesson 8, is now available through the SanctuaryLesson.org domain on Vimeo. Thanks to the work of a small team of volunteers at Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen (link to video tour), a Seventh-day Adventist seminary in Austria, we can invite Dr Pröbstle himself into our homes or our Sabbath School classes to introduce the lesson. I grew up in an all-white world.
Well, not exactly all white. There was Maurice, the black custodian at the local shopping center, who swept the sidewalks singing B.B. King songs. There was Joe Parche, the skinny, high-I.Q. boy who they bussed in from the city in an effort to “integrate” our high school. And there was Estelle, our cleaning lady.
Estelle came into my world surrounded with myth and mystery. My mother had prepared me for her arrival by drawing me aside to [...]
“Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His. ‘With His stripes we are healed.’ ” (E.G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 25)

I spent some time looking for a good example of atonement, this week. It was more difficult than I expected because so many of the examples I found equate atonement with forgiveness – synonyms. I have to admit, that I have thought of them as the same as well. But when I look at the description of the things that happened on the Day of Atonement, there’s something more going on there above and beyond forgiveness.

I’ve been doing some thinking about how things might look if more Christians were open to being filled and used by the Holy Spirit. Oh, I know, most of us believe that we are open and ready, maybe already being used by Him. And we’re probably right on some level, but not on a Moses-on-the-mountain, Day-of-Pentecost, turn-the-world-upside-down, being-filled-with-the-Holy-Spirit level.

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’” 1 Peter 1:13-16
