Memory Text: “For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it in vain, who formed it to be inhabited: ‘I am the Lord, and there is no other’ “ (Isaiah 45:18, NKJV).
Scientists are increasingly impressed by the fitness of the world for living creatures. And no wonder, for design [...]

1. Jesus the Creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe that Jesus created the heaven and earth? Does everyone you are discussing this week’s lesson with have a similar belief? Do you know of any Seventh-day Adventist who does not believe that God created the world? What is the purpose of this lesson topic for the next three [...]

When my sons were little, we spent a lot of time watching shows or videos about animals. And, initially that sounds awesome because then they were learning things instead of watching mindless kids’ shows (they watched those too). Nature shows are so much fun to watch – the photography is beautiful. Except that every single one of them had to throw in its mandatory this-animal-evolved-from-that-animal line. At which point I would feel the need [...]
Happy New Year!
I don’t do resolutions. I’ve observed two things—that humans have an indefatigable drive to fix themselves, and that it is utterly futile and fruitless. The only good that comes from our self-fixing is that some of us finally learn it’s impossible.

Observe every world religion other than the faith of Jesus. Each proposes a method whereby lost souls may ascend to God. Whether the Zen Buddhist with his endless meditations [...]

My late father, Richard D. Wilson, was known for such pithy one-liners. He first slung this one at me on a long, hot family road trip to Florida. It was one of those classic family car scenarios – ever-vibrating little kids in the back seat, parents sitting like sentinels in the front, occasionally shouting commands to quell the crowd, and an adolescent or two burrowed into a the most secluded corner that could be found [...]
There’s a TV show that my family and I watch called American Restoration. The star is Rick Dale. 1

Watching Rick restore whatever his clients bring in is an amazing process. Usually what they bring in has been dropped, crushed, rusted or in some other way destroyed. But after Rick and his employees have worked on the item it looks and operates just like it just came from the factory. Even better than watching the restoration process [...]

1. Better and better, or worse and worse. Which is it? Think of all the advances in human life today. Open-heart surgery for an inborn infant? Travel to Mars in a space ship smart enough to look around and take pictures? The transformation of information thanks to the computer? The removal of diseases such as polio from the world? Gains in life [...]
“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:7
As soon as sin began, legalism began. Adam tried to cover his shame by his own works. However that did not work. Just three verses after Adam makes his own garment, he tells God he ran from Him because he was naked. Why did Adam feel naked after making a garment of fig leaves? [...]
On that first morning, sweeter than a tree-ripened peach, more beautiful than a flowering valley, God felt a void. There amidst the verdure, the teeming animal life, the crystal, rushing water, something was missing. That something was us.

“And God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them,” Genesis 1:27.
God wanted more than beauty and perfection, more than artistic satisfaction. He longed for [...]
[Editor's Note: When we think of prophecy, our minds often turn to the message of Rev 14:6-10 and Rev 18:4, and we are reminded that it is our responsibility to call God's people out of Babylon. But do we understand the sin of Babylon so we can be sure that we do not participate in the same sin? Stan Hudson explores this topic.]
Some time ago I visited a dear, little old lady who had a great spiritual concern: “Pastor, do [...]
