  1. Dear William. Thank you so much for this very gentle but clear and firm reminder to all of us on courtesy rules. You have managed to touch on some areas of concern which some if us had for a long time and which were somewhat off putting at times . Some made one cautious to comment cause there were commentators who sounded so wise and know it all.But this remains a wonderful and educative blog which I love. God bless every one all over the world who is contributing and enjoying this blog and God bless you too !

  2. Thank you William and the Sabbath School Net team. I so much enjoy being a part of this Study group. It is a very valuable resource for my small home bible study group as you have said it is essential to maintain a balanced and Jesus focused perspective when we have bible study. Also to allow room for questions and answers to assist in having a clearer understanding of God's Holy Word. Again thank you all for your hard work. May God's blessings continue to be spread through your online Studies.

  3. Perhaps Matt 26:22 is a Scripture that we could all consider.

["Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn, “Am I the one, Lord?” Matthew 26:22 NLT]

It is possible for us to betray the Master, in many different ways, and in different degrees...

  4. I expect we can all relate to being in a group where one person tends to dominate. Perhaps they feel they have a lot [of knowledge and experience] to give, and they may feel that they are doing the Lord's appointed work.

But "he that has [real] knowledge SPARES his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent [i.e. "cool"/patient] spirit. Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise: and he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. (Prov 17:27-28)

I think it may be good to bear in mind too, that it is "a fool [that] utters all his mind" on any given subject. (Prov 29:11)

    • "Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." Ps. 141:3. I have to pray this many times a day. I am going to add Prov. 17:27-28 to those prayers. Thank you for sharing, Stewart.

  7. I am grateful to see a fantastic guideline for making comments. This should be posted in many actual Sabbath school classes!

  8. Thank you for this reminder of how a class should be. This is my only Sabbath School class and I read it with enthusiasm. I do not post very often but feel that I know some of the regulars. May the Lord continue to use this tool to reach others and provide sustenance for those of us who are limited in being able to attend a physical class.

  10. What a great sabbath school this is, as I read your comments my understanding of the Bible grows. As Solomon said, "iron sharpens Iron" so sharing comments increases our knowledge base. Don't be afraid to comment Jane, most of us are not Bible scholars just ordinary folk that share the joy of Jesus and try to Follow Him as best we can.

Thank you William for all the time and effort you put in to this sabbath school, the Lord bless you keep you.

  12. 1Tim 5:17

"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."

I feel that the moderators here are "worthy of double honor", but I also feel some concern/alarm at what can easily become flattery. Let's be really careful.

I am confident that our "watchmen" (both men and women) are aware of the many warnings we've been given against flattery and praise, and that they are still capable of shaking their hands free from holding what can amount to "bribes". (Isa 33:15)

But still, "we need to shun everything that would encourage pride and self-sufficiency; therefore we should beware of giving or receiving flattery or praise." (Christ's Object Lessons p.161)

  13. I am a person who used to talk too much but after I read this I will think twice before I comment. This is a reality check. I am speechless.thank u. There was a reason why Jesus started jotting down rather than give them the answers that they wanted hear.

  14. I am a Sabbath School Teacher and I welcome other input from the class members. Frequently, I will ask the question, "Is there anyone here who cannot learn anything new or different?" Amazingly, no one raises their hand. Also, I will add, "Do not take my word for it or my interpretation or understanding on the topic. But search the scriptures for yourselves. I will hope that your studies with the Holy Spirit's help has influenced you. Be convinced yourselves. Use Bible texts to support your view. If we are on the 'same page', then--Great!"

  15. I must confess I am guilty of using only my first name and last initial. I have nothing to hide but just did not like the insecurity of the world wide net. Just habit. I have been called out therefore I will respect the rules and join with everyone else in the transparency of who I am. Thank you for, as was said before, gently but firm reproof.

  17. Happy Sabbath everyone!I just want to say how thankful I'm for this website. I've recently discovered it and every week since, I look forward to each day's comment. I've been sharing them in my class and at work and it's a tremendous blessing. I'm always conscious of the worldwide web security issues and at times weigh heavily before I put my personal info out there. From my end I'd love to see more of the questions from the SS Lessons answered because I sometimes find that the questions or explanations provided in the lessons are above some of us understanding. Irrespective of this, I always get pointers from the comments posted here. May God bless you all as you continue to share God's word.
