God Listened to Me! — 24 Comments

  1. Thanks so much for sharing! Reading other people's experiences does so much to build ones own faith. I have had the experience of praying for my father for 30+ years before he made his decision to follow the Lord. When he was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few weeks to live, he wanted to go to campmeeting with my mother, which he had done before but most of the time stayed in the RV while she went to the meetings. He had gone often enough to know that calls were made, however; and we soon figured out that was why he wanted to go even though the doctor had said he was in no condition to do so. Since it was the first weekend of campmeeting I wasn't sure the speaker for the week would be making a call. A pastor friend made arrangements with the speaker to make the call that night. It brings tears to my eyes as I write this and picture him being wheeled down to the front by my husband in answer to the call. I heard him pray for the first and only time that summer. He died 7 weeks later a very baby christian. Praise the Lord!

  2. Thanks so much William for your testimony. There are times that l feel God does not answer prayers but one day l was asked to attend a final examination on a Saturday. I told God in prayer that l was not prepared to talk to the lecturers. He should talk to them since He is the one who created them and who made and sanctified the Sabbath. The following Monday l was called by the Head of the Department and was told that l was going to write my exam the following Monday after others had written the previous Saturday. I was in tears when l left the Head of Department's office because l never thought God was going to answer my prayer.

    • What an encouraging testimony Lorrin! God surely takes care of us, even when we can't take care of ourselves. I had a similiar situation, years ago when I worked in a warehouse. On a Friday afternoon the boss called all of us into his office and said the place was a mess and we all would have to come in tomorrow to fix things or be fired. First thing I thought was that I was going to be living under a bridge because I was about to lose my job, because there was no way I would work on Sabbath. Without saying anything to my boss he turned to me and excused me from working the next day but told everyone else they had to. Yes God does hear before we even call! Thank you for your encouraging testimony Lorrin!

  3. Your story made me cry. I don't know why. So many times I wish I could have a story like that but I have convinced myself that it can't happen to me. I know God hears me but sometimes there is doubt and I hate it. I don't know how to do this. How are you supposed to feel? I need help. Please pray for me. Please.

    • Jammick I will pray for you my friend, but do not tell yourself it can't happen to you. You know God loves you. What he has done for others He will do for you. God not only heard the prophet Abraham, he also heard his handmaid Hagar and sent an angel to find her alone when she ran away and blessed her. Here is a study that I hope increases your faith.

      Prayer

What are we told to do?
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6

How often are we to pray?
And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Luke 18:1

What should we not use in prayer?
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matthew 6:7

Did Jesus give us an example of how to prayer?
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

What does Jesus promise to do?
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:7-11

What must we do for our prayers to be answered?
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them]. Mark 11:24

Whose will should we be seeking?
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt]. Matthew 26:39

      What assurance do we have?
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5:14-15

Does anything prevent God from hearing our prayers?
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]: Psalms 66:18

What must we do for God to hear?
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Why is prayer so important today?
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
      1 Peter 4:7

  4. I wonder what l'll have become without prayer. lt might take long but God always answers prayers. l remember during the last days of my primary school, l prayed to God to help me go to high school. l grew up in an impoverished home of more than 10 children to my family the highest grade which anyone could go was grade 7 and it was clear that at grade 7 that was my last year at school but a miracle happened during my last day at school. My father whom l last heard from years back came and offered to take me to high school, l thanked God for that since that day my life changed. l did not only go to high skool but l became a christian. lf it wasn't for prayer and faith l could have remained believing in the dead and uneducated. My father died after l had completed my high school.

My second dream was to to go to university. Without my dad that was not also possible but l thank God because now l'm in university studying at the same time I am working. My dreams didn't look possible but God opened the way for me. Although it took me more than 10yrs to continue studying, because of PRAYER and FAITH l'm fulfilling my dreams.

  5. What words of comfort and encouragement these are, from the book of Isaiah. And TRUE they are, as they are words coming from the mouth of God. "thus saith the Lord..."

I experienced it in a very amazing way. On the 10th of February 2012 my wife left her workplace cottage for the weekend, to attend Sabbath as usual (church is a great distance away). Upon returning on the 12th, she discovered that the place had been broken into. All things, I mean everything, was gone. After phoning me, I went down on my knees and said, "thank you oh God that this has happened to us. What I know is that we left that cottage and everything inside under Your blood Jesus. And even now all our taken property is still under Your blood. They are SAFE. Because they are ours, may You please return the goods to us. Lord please do not give the stealers rest......"

My wife went to report the robbery to the police, and while compiling the report, she spotted our desktop computer. After positively identifying it, she was told, 'your tv is also here, and the suspects also cuffed'. Back home we prayed as a family thanking God for the recovery of these.

A week later, 20th, I went to the police station intending to collect those two things, and another miracle awaited me there, but required my presence first. I met the seargent who recovered our two items, explained about the outstanding goods, and he confirmed that he saw all those, but could not link them to the former. He drove straight to the arrested's house and recovered all (save for perishables). 8 days later! And HE (GOD) knew my prayer, heard it and replied to me before I said it.

  6. My son's grades have greatly improved because God listened to me. For years we were praying for him to pass and just this year 2012 God has granted us our request. It is wonderful for us and for him too. Just yesterday he was chosen to be a class monitor. We thank the Lord.

I was also not reporting for work on Sabbath according to the Lord's command. My boss got very cross with me but for three weeks I prayed and brethren prayed and the Lord heard me. I have been transfered to another department were I have been freed on Sabbaths. Prayer has power. Thank you for the shared testimonies.

    • Thank you for your testimony sizani. Earlier I had posted a comment about how God helped me get Sabbath off. I wish more people would let God work these things out for them. I meet several Adventists who work on Sabbath because they have been told to and they do not even ask for it off because they are afraid to ask. They are robbing themselves of a wonderful blessing when they are too afraid to ask.

  7. My Mother and Father wandered from the church many years ago; in 2011, at the ages of 70 and 77, they were baptized! So much joy that Sabbath morning, I thought my heart would burst 🙂

Those of you who are struggling with doubt, please hear my testimony. I have fallen victim to doubt also, over my husband and 2 of my 3 children who have wandered from God. I felt alone and let down that God had not kept them. Through that time and with much prayer I realized it is Satan who plants this doubt thought in our minds, and to think we will never be good enough. YOU ARE ALREADY LOVED. COME TO GOD JUST AS YOU ARE. As you open your heart to Him, and pour out all your needs to Him, He will tell you how much he loves you (and all those you care about). This is a very good talk on how much God wants and loves you by Pastor Tim Riesenberger. http://youtu.be/JECz5qUny8I. I could not sleep and found myself drawn to this site. I want you to know you are in my prayers this early morning, and God is earnestly waiting to hear from you. Love to all.

  8. Thanks pastor for your encouragement, I remember I had a tire puncture, and I did not even pray, there comes along an arab with battery powered airpump and gives it to me and speeds away, I was so spellbound that I didn't even have time to say "thank you" God does hear & answers even without prayers. Praise God to all your testimonies. Kuwait

    • Roldao, that reminds me of a time a few years ago, that I bought a used car. Before buying it I started to check to make sure it had a tire jack in the trunk. The salesman told me it did and that I did not need to bother checking. A few days later I have a flat on the highway. I go to get the tire jack that the salesman assured me was there, and there was no tire jack! Before I could even call for help, a friend spotted me on the road and stopped to help. He had a tire jack. So man let me down but God provided a good friend to help, just like with you. God is good!

  9. So touching testimonies. I will share mine. God has answered my prayers so many times, but i will share the recent one. Me and my husband have been married for 10 years now. 3 years into marriage we had a son who was born through c-section but he died after 5 days and 2 days later the c/s bursted a lot of pus oozed, so I had another operation to clean the uterus, that was the only way out. We kept on praying that God will heal us. After leaving the hostpital a week later I could not walk, laugh, turn on bed to change sleeping position and even cry because there was this pain on my right side of the uterus. Upon visiting hospital it was discovered there was an infection on my right ovary and that there was accumulated fluid and the ovary was swollen. I was happy that I was told the problem because I was scared to death not knowing the problem.

God saw us through all those trying times. We were both scared to conceive again thinking we will have problems again but 5 years later we thought to have a try and I conceived. Sadly 3 months later I had a miscarriage. We were heart broken, i cried without hope. Wondered if we were being punished. But I said to myself "whom am I to question God? Am just nothing." Now with this I gave up thinking am not meant to nurse a child. I remember telling my husband that am scared and don't want a child anymore.

Then after 2 years, the thought came again, willing to conceive again, but we couldn't. Then in October 2010 I started praying. I remember every morning going to the bathroom kneeling down, pouring my spirit asking God to give me JUST ONE MALE CHILD. I never told my husband that am praying to conceive, but I told him that the month of November I will be pregnant. He just laughed and said "you seem to have hope so much, what is happening?" He never knew that each and every morning I knelt in the bathroom praying. It was a prayer of faith. I even asked God to bless me and give me a son as he did with Hannah, Sarai, Elizabeth. I told him to do the same with me. And God did it!!!

November 2010 I conceived. My husband asked me why I told him with hope that we will be expecting a child from November. Its when I told him that I have been praying about it. We were very happy because it was different, no fear for I knew that I asked God and I will have the child. But the devil is the liar always, 3 months later I got sick and had the very exact signs I had when I lost the pregnancy in 2008, was scared. I got the question Jesus used to ask the disciples, "where is your faith." God took care of us and protected the unborn child. At the hospital was told the child was a girl, but I never gave up my faith that its a male child because I asked for a male child. By the grace of God on July 19, 2011, I gave birth to a beautiful male child through c-section, his name is Hope. 3 days after he was born, he got sick, just like what happened in 2003 when I lost the baby. I said God please, why the repetition of events? But God is not mortal, his thoughts are beyond our understanding, He healed my son. He is growing up in his care. We serve the living God whose name is IAM WHO IAM. A prayer of faith does wonders. I love this verse: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). Amem

  10. God is really an amazing God and He really answer our prayers.I can't count anymore how many times God answered my prayers, because they were too many to remember. But one incident that I cannot forget is when I was in our veranda, looking at the heaven and talking to God crying.I was in a big financial problem and there was nobody that can help me during those times. So I cried and beg to God to help me and on that hour,my phone rang and my neighbor abroad that was not in connection with me for many years told me that she can't understand why she remembered me suddenly and she wanted to offer me a good job abroad where I can get good salary and she was even willing to pay for my airfare and everything.I thank her and after our talk,I talk to God again and I told Him,I know it is YOU,you answered my prayer.Since then,I never stopped believing in the power of prayer! To God Be the Glory!

  12. God bless you. I'm greatly encouraged by all that you have said concerning prayer.

I do strongly believe that God indeed hears us when we pray to Him, I believe He knows everything about us.

My little boy David was born with two major defects. One was what the Doctors call Omphalocele and the other was Atrial Septal Defect.

I'm deeply convinced till today that it was God who healed this my son. I join you to encourage others to trust God. Let us take our problems to Him, He listens and comes to our help at just the right time.

  13. God listens to prayers and you don't have to be Adventist for Him to hear you. I had a patient who needed two cardiac arteries unblocked. God helped us unblock one artery and the second I postponed because it was very much more difficult and I could see it would take much longer time and we had to be ready for anything. I informed the family and the patient to go home and pray. All this time his non Adventist church was praying.

After two weeks He returned to the hospital for the second artery and that time the problem was gone! No further procedure was needed. God answers prayers and is ready to give what we need if we ask in accordance to His infinite loving will. He knows what is best for all and He will answer if we are ready to receive. It is not Him who does not want to answer prayers it is us who are not ready to receive.
