  1. 1. What does “knowing Jesus” mean to you?
John 17:3- To me knowing Jesus is Salvational.

    2. What, if any, is the difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus?
Knowing about Jesus is only intellectual (Matthew 15:8)
Knowing Jesus is personally having a relationship with Him (1 John 1: 1-4)

    3. How can one tell if they know Jesus?
    By their character (Matthew 7:20)

    4. Is it true that being very religious as a Christian is indicative of knowing Jesus? Why yes or no?
yes.... Matthew 5:14. When we know Jesus, we can't help it but to shine.

    5. If Jesus answers my prayers doesn’t that indicate that I have a relationship with Him? Why yes or no?
Yes- (John 15:16 "...that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

    6. Is the following statement True, Mostly True, Somewhat True or Not True: The closer I get to Jesus the less I will need to study my Bible to learn about Him. Explain your answer.
Somewhat True- Psalms 119:11 states that Gods word is hid in the heart. Hebrews 8:10-11 says that after God puts His law in our minds and write them on our hearts we shall know Him.

    • The closer I get to Jesus the less I will need to study my Bible to learn about Him. Explain your answer.

Just a comment on this question:
The closer I get to Jesus the more I realise of my insufficiency and the more meticulously I will need to study the Pattern (Who is Jesus) in order to be in greater conformity to the Pattern. So I therefore will see the need to study the Word more as I draw nearer to Him so that I can assimilate still more and more to His character. Paradoxical in a sense but true.

      • Chris, I wholeheartedly agree with your answer. I would like to add that I believe that our desire to study will also be because we love Him and want to learn more about heavenly things, not just to make sure we are in compliance but because that is where our primary affections are. You didn't outright state that but I'm sure you had that in mind as a part of your answer 🙂
        Thanks for sharing.

          • Thats a real paradox. You meticulously reseaching and studying the words in search of the life patterns that Jesus laid out for us to follow. However, what we do cannot save us. It more like who you believe in and give full dicipleship to "not my will but thy will be done in me".

    • Hello Paul, thank you for taking the time to answer all of the questions. You definitely gave a different way of looking at some of the answers. On question 6 I would answer that the closer we get the more we would want to learn more about Him, thus the more we would need to study our Bibles. I understand that Jesus and the story of salvation will be a lifelong study in eternity.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

      • Thank you Mr. Curtis for your reply and thoughts on this weeks Hit the Mark. You said "You definitely gave a different way of looking at some of the answers." I believe that like those that were told about the birth of Jesus so are we who are studying the bible to know about Jesus- My point is: The same star that the wise men were following was a distant company of angels that appeared to the shepherds on the hill, different view but same thing. Sir i answered those questions from my point of view with scripture references that i understand to support a answer and if it may not be the same as another would view and understand I hope that our differences would not cause us to miss the mark on this weeks lesson. Im still learning and thank God for this website and the people like you who share their thoughts on what God has put in your hearts. Praise be to God.

        • Hello Paul, I hope that I did not offend you by the tone of my reply. That was certainly not my intention. I enjoyed reading and appreciated your answers to the questions posed. I certainly am not the authority on answers so please don't feel like I was casting doubts on your answers. I was able to see a different viewpoint through your answers and that's always a good thing.

      • That was exactly the way i was going to answer it! The closer i get to Jesus, the more i am able to see Him in the scriptures, thus the more i desire to study and learn!

  2. Question - is there a great difference between the experiences catalogued in the Bible amd your personal experiences with your Saviour. The failures and sucesses that we experience, aren't they just as inspiring as those in the Bible. With Jesus in the mix we reflect upon the many deliverance HE orchestrates in our motion to perfection.

    • Delroy, you raise an interesting question. I certainly agree that ours and those of our contemporaries are just as inspiring. I think that one of the unique things about the Bible experiences is that we can see the end of the story for many characters as opposed to our stories which are still being written.

  3. As I study this lesson, I want to know what God thinks about my knowing Him. How does He define this knowledge? Sure, I may have my ideas and so may you. And we might have a stimulating discussion about that, but my ideas could be far away from God's. So I think I need to start with a solid foundation--of how He defines this relationship.

  4. I may have my ideas and that Jesus was the best teacher. We should have his step and the solid foundation.
