The Controversy Continues – Hit the Mark — 8 Comments

  1. I was rereading Daniel and his three companions recently. The stories are not new but they are definitely examples of flawless courage. To have courage like the three being threaten with being burned alive, requires Faith, unshakeable Faith. To tell a King that he has less power than God is sealing your own death. This type of Faith is enviable, and I seek in most of my prayers.

    • Paul, when thinking about future times of trouble, this quotation is very insightful and encouraging:
      The disciples were not endowed with the courage and fortitude of the martyrs until such grace was needed. Then the Saviour’s promise was fulfilled. When Peter and John testified before the Sanhedrin council, men “marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13. Of Stephen it is written that “all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.” Men “were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.” Acts 6:15, 10. And Paul, writing of his own trial at the court of the Caesars, says, “At my first defense no one took my part, but all forsook me.... But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.” 2 Timothy 4:16, 17, R. V. {DA 354.3}

  2. When you reflect upon the many times God has saved you and worked out your Good when there was no help no hope no window of escape you will certainly have Courage to do what he wants you to do even until death...our problem lies often in fear of the unknown ,self sufficiency and the tendency to forget the salvation of God in our lives and how he has led us to our present glory...

  3. Real Love is at the very roots of the greatest courage men of God have ever exhibited for the cause of good... real love ignites courage for the promotion of the cause of God... experience fans it into a raging Burning fire...IF you have no true love there'll be no true courage and great deeds for good will not be found in your life

  4. "What does it mean to have convictions?
    What, if any, is the difference between a conviction and a belief?"
    _________________

    Mental "assent" (or agreement) is one thing, but "conviction" is something else.
    To speak or act with "conviction" means that the heart is involved. A certainty [and a depth of feeling] exists that goes beyond simple "agreement" or "belief". It can often mean that we are willing to make a stand on whatever it is. How good it is to have convictions about something! But some, once they reach their 40's or 50's seem to have no real convictions left.

    It is possible for us to smother our convictions. This is dangerous. Because "conviction" can come from "conscience", and the voice of conscience is often the voice of God. It is not safe for us to ignore or resist that voice.

  5. Enjoyed that, I embrace that and it has been my experience too. When we are convicted of something and we look to Jesus for strength to follow our conviction we will be more then conquerors. Keep looking to the Lord brothers and sisters for courage.
