The Irony of Sympathy — 10 Comments

    • What you say is quite true Myrtle, but how are we "living testimonies for others to read"? Do you have examples to share with us?

      • Whatever actions we take to help others we give glory to God .Jesus said what we do for people will be done to Him
All of us working together allow our light to shine in the community
        Happy sabbath to all

  1. With our nature we cannot sympathise with others unless we clothe ourselves with the divine nature of Christ. Be blessed

    • Josephat; What does it mean to be clothed with the divine nature of Christ?

I see a lot of people who make no profession of Christianity who are quite good at offering sympathy and understanding so perhaps we need to discuss what is meant here.

  2. There is nothing good in us and are unable to sympathize with others.I believe our job is to allow christ to live in us and see his marvelous work on our behalf. Most of us concentrate on our behavior instead of fixing our eyes on the one who is able to mold us into his likeness.
Some are naturally born with sympathizing hearts and some of us have to struggle with it. But we are not left without help and our job is to allow him to dwell in our hearts through reading his word and talking to him constantly. We can't be casual about our walk with Him but we have to be intentional!

  3. At the end of the day we should be seen and able to be singled out as those who offered meat (food) in times of hunger, clothes in times of nakedness, shelter in times of storm & the list goes on. By doing so we would have fulfilled the mission "Looking everyone on the needs of others, consequently letting our light/lives so shine before men. As the songwriter puts it, Give me the words to say,
Give me a heart of love to reach the dying,
Hands to reach out to my neighbor,
Feet to walk and find the sinner,
Eyes that look and see their hurting,
Compassion that will reach the dying,
Give me a heart of ♥
We have too many BIG but EMPTY words.
Give us the ability to "reach the lost" dear Lord. Amen

  4. This is exactly what i needed at this time. It is better to be critical of ourselves than to be critical on others. so inspiring.Only Jesus can give us the strength though
