  1. Praise God! We can only look to Christ and Him alone!
So help us God and oh that we may willingly and gladly walk in the path of the just that shines ever brighter till the full light of day (Prov. 4:18).

    • It is worth remembering our responsibility Chris. Others look at us to see Jesus and if they don't see him in us we have abdicated our responsibility.

    • We should always remember that we must spend an appropriate amount of time in God's Word. We do invent the LORD in our own image, only the Bible can give us HIS image. A wise brother recently said, "when you are depressed read the red letters in your Bible!"

As I'm sure you know, there are 613 commandments/rules in the Bible and only the ceremonial law has been nailed to the cross. The rest shine a light on the Big Ten. Best regards, Royce

  2. Often we say "we" SDA's but how can we speak for SDA's all over the world? I've been in many different SDA churches in South Africa and there are different attitudes in one church and between churches. If one thinks their community are doing or not doing something be specfic because the next community might be competely different.

    • Shirley I agree we are all different and being judgmental is unacceptable. That is what William mentioned also. When we compare our selves to others we are forming an opinion based on comparisons. However that is the way most statistical information is gleaned. I would hope that the article was not about diet but about our relationship with our maker. Matt 15:11 covers pretty well how important our diet is to our salvation. Paul has a few comments in Romans14:2&3 and 1Cor 10:23-25,30&31. The Ellen White quote about church members is misunderstood and miss applied by many SDA. members. I had one say to me that 80% of SDA are not going to be saved based on that quote. 1st there are a number of different denominations that have members on their "Churches books". 2nd no one knows who are going to be lost and who are going to be saved. 3rd the quote says 20% are not ready and that may well be accurate considering the state of our society today. There is nothing wrong with the quote, It is just that conclusions that are based on misguided understanding are not beneficial.

  3. Didn't Daniel and his companions demonstrate God's ideal, and were found "10 times wiser" as a result? So "10 times wiser" than the wisest of the world is actually the norm in God's government. In the Kingdom of God, Daniel would just be the average. Imagine the Church with such health of body and mind. What a witness to the world!

  4. Hi William,

Very interesting comparison. We have problems spiritually and physically.
What we put into or don't put into our mouths makes a big difference with how the brain and emotions work or don't work. I think it's the same spiritually. We need to feed the spirit with the Word of God with a humble, open mind and heart or it won't do us any good.
    Thanks for the honest confession!

  5. "We cannot consider ourselves physically healthy just because we are like those around us" This is something that we do without really realizing that we compare not only our physical state but also our spiritual, and social state to those around us forgetting that there really is a higher standard. This speaks to the high influence we have on each other which makes it very important for us individually to have high standards and to search for truth and knowledge for ourselves, not dependent on the thoughts and knowledge of others.

  6. Like this, short and to the point.
Just come to show that the same mistake is still being made up to the close of time. And the same Laodicean massage : we think we lack nothing while being wretched, pitful, poor, blind and naked. Thanks for the wake-up call Lord Jesus.

  8. Thanks for sharing William. In Luke 18, The Pharisee prayed " God I thank you, that I am not as other men are...". By making man our standard we place ourselves beyond the reach mercy, but when Christ is our standard we can see our weekness and pray like the tax collector " Lord be merciful to me a sinner "
