Preparation Day is still important for us to pass on to the next generation. The discipline of learning to prepare before Friday night is a lesson that will help in other areas of our lives as well. It will also help us appreciate our Sabbath rest, which will become a sweeter more welcomed day. I also reflect on the parable of the ten virgins, the 5 who were prepared and the 5 who were not. I rather be like the 5 who took the time in advance to gather the oil for their lamps. Similarly we should be preparing for Christ's return.

Very powerful and fitting. I am a big fan of the videos on Ted; in fact, my 3 year olds request to listen the speakers, whose stories are out of the box. I can relate to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in many ways. Thank you for sharing.

Very insightful lesson! We really do have a duty to the environment! The keeping of the Sabbath took on new meaning to me all over again ... who knew that was possible? It really is all-encompassing. Oh that men would worship the Lord the way they ought to! So many things would be different!

In giving us everything we needed including the ability to discern between right and wrong, God already provided us with an internal compass to tell us if we were caring for or abusing the environment. Only after the curse of sin, did greed cause us to misuse God's property. This is yet another reason to return to the original plan that God has for us.

I have limited bandwidth for my internet each month, so I don't watch many videos, but I'm glad I watched this one. A most amazing young women helps us think about how easily we accept "single stories" that create demeaning stereotypes.

Thank you, Kim, for sharing this. :)

By the virtue that man highly depend on the earth's produce he has to take care of it. Love your neighbors as you love yourself, I believe no one would wants to die and so to the neighbor.
If we don't take care of earth were are not appreciating the life that God gave us as a gift and He may take it away from me.
GOD KINDLY TEACH HOW TO APPRECIATE YOUR CREATION IN HONORING YOU

Multiculturalism hands us amazing opportunities to improve and make our perspective of our world so much richer.
I recently listened to a talk given by a Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and marvelled at the wisdom in such a young woman. Her talk is here:
http://www.ted.com/talks/chimamanda_adichie_the_danger_of_a_single_story.html?quote=558
A few of her wise quotes:
"The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.”

“Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity.”(Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie )

“Show a people as one thing — as only one thing — over and over again, and that is what they become.”

Wow' wonderful text this morning; Prov 27:20;
The contrast between hell, destruction never full and so the eyes of man are never satisfied. This picture is a reality of sinful and how selfish man is after the fall of man.

But Pual has shown us how to be content. And this could only attain through Jesus as He is the satisfier of every needs 2 Corinthians 3:5

May we depend on God and to be an example to others around us. God bless.

You're welcome, Kim

I hope that we are. Without forgiveness and repentance, we cannot see the kingdom, and that would be a shame. We need to be of one accord that we might receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for the final great work.

That's a prayer we really need to all embrace.

Hi David,

Thanks for your contribution.

If all (or even most) discrimination and racism were in the distant past, then I would agree that any acknowledgement of such could be seen as divisive. But what happens when the behavior has not completely diminished? More importantly, what happens when its impact can still be felt in *some* churches?

Simply not talking about it doesn't make it go away or get better. Time helps to heal wounds, provided that that are properly bandaged and cared for. Wounds that are left untreated can get worse over time, not better.
