  1. "I have heard Seventh-day Adventists telling their Baptist and Methodist friends to search the Bible for themselves because their pastors could be wrong. I have watched some of the same Seventh-day Adventists listening to their own favorite Adventist preachers, without bothering to search the scriptures, because, after all, their pastor is Adventist, so he is automatically right, right? Wrong! We all make mistakes, as we all continue to learn and grow." This statement says it all!

  2. Well said, William. In the end, it will just be "you" and Jesus, so you'd better know what you believe and why. At the same time, some people go to the opposite extreme, never doubting their own beliefs, or seriously considering that they might be mistaken, even though the entire SDA Church (correctly) disagrees with their position. We need a healthy balance of personal conviction and self-doubt.

  3. You made this comment: "Interestingly while Jesus claimed to be God, the majority accused Him of blasphemy and had Him crucified for making such a claim".

Please provide me the text or texts verifying that Jesus claimed to be God.

    Thank you,

    • John 10:30-33 NLT The Father and I are one.”

31 Once again the people picked up stones to kill him. 32 Jesus said, “At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?”

33 They replied, “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.”

    • Matthew 26:62-65 62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Well, aren’t you going to answer these charges? What do you have to say for yourself?” 63 But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I demand in the name of the living God—tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

64 Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand[i] and coming on the clouds of heaven.”[j]

65 Then the high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said, “Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy. 66 What is your verdict?”

“Guilty!” they shouted. “He deserves to die!”

  4. Hi William - I always appreciate your weekly post, though am curious to know why you chose to share your own topic instead of sharing your insights as they relate to the week's lesson topic.

You usually share with us your thoughts once a week at the end of our weekly studies. Though your post appearing to be part of SSN's weekly lesson guide, I have never read your insights as they relate to weekly study topics.

Always thoughfully presented, it would be a welcomed addition if your writings could become part of our ongoing studies.

    • Thanks Brigitte for your kind words. Sometimes my posts are directly related to the week's study and sometimes just to the general theme for the quarter as in this week's lesson. Sometimes my posts are just related to Sabbath School in general. My posts are called featured posts. As far as why I choose what to write about each week, a lot of it depends on what I am "inspired" to write. Thank you for reaching out to me and for being a part of our discussions.
