2: Crisis of Leadership – Singing with Inspiration
God is Here! – Hymn 61 reflects the words of Isaiah 7:14, as is in the precise introduction to the lesson pamphlet. Following on from this there is Isaiah 9:6 (Lesson 5), Isaiah 40:4 and Isaiah 53:5 from which George Frederick Handel composed some of his music in Handel’s Messiah. There are many items that can be used in Sabbath Schools this quarter from Handel’s Messiah.
Isaiah 9:6 gives us Number 12 in Handel’s Messiah – “For unto us a Child is born”, with Isaiah 40:4 being Number 3 – “Ev’ry Valley” and Isaiah 53:5 being Number 25 – “And with His stripes”. You may wish to have your musicians prepare some of these well-known pieces of music for an item during your Sabbath School time. There are many more pieces to be used from Handel’s Messiah.
As the Israelites forgot about God and followed so many other gods, God remained faithful to them, with Isaiah and many other prophets working so hard for God to turn His people around, hence I will choose
Hymn 100 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness as a theme hymn for this quarter. Secondary to this we may use
Hymn 104 – My Shepherd Will Supply My Need.
God has lead us in the past and will keep on doing through eternity. As our world is in crisis and our lesson study portrays the leadership crisis for Israel, with much confidence we can sing:
Hymn 537 – He Leadeth Me,
Hymn 619 – Lead On, O King Eternal, and
Hymn 691 – Lead Me, Lord.
Our prayers for leadership are shown in:
Hymn 482 – Father, Lead Me Day by Day and
Hymn 653 – Lead Them, My God, to Thee.
Monday’s title immediately brings to mind
Hymn 73 – Holy, Holy, Holy and
Hymn 661 – Holy, Holy, Holy.
Isaiah was cleansed with the burning coal on his lips. It is with

Hymn 252 – Come, Let Us Sing (verse 2),
Hymn 258 – Baptize Us Anew,
Hymn 260 – Hover O’er Me, Holy Spirit (verse 4),
Hymn 268 – Holy Spirit, Light Divine (verse 2),
