3: When Your World is Falling Apart – Singing with Inspiration
As the Israelites forgot about God and followed so many other gods and nations, God remained faithful to them, with Isaiah and many other prophets working so hard for God to turn His people around, hence I will choose
Hymn 100 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness as a theme hymn for this quarter. Secondary to this we may use
Hymn 104 – My Shepherd Will Supply My Need.
Ahaz forgot to recognise “that God was the only Friend who could rescue him and his country” –
Hymn 499 – What a Friend We Have in Jesus. Ahaz had forgotten to
Trust and Obey – Hymn 590,
Hymn 510 – If You But Trust in God to Guide You, and
Hymn 279 – Only Trust Him. The king needed to believe as in
Hymn 486 – I Do Believe and
Hymn 511 – I Know Whom I Have Believed.
On Tuesday another chance was given. Ahaz could have cried out
O For a Faith That Will Not Shrink – Hymn 533 but ‘he barred and bolted the door of his heart to shut out faith”.
There is a very short recitative in Handel’s Messiah that sums up Wednesday – Number 8, Behold a Virgin Shall Conceive, followed by
Hymn 115 – O Come, O Come, Immanuel.
Thursday will give us verse 2 of
Hymn 8 – We Gather Together. “Our God with us is joining”.
If you do not know any of the hymns listed above, you will find the music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
