3: The Lord Reigns – Singing with Inspiration
The beautiful picture on the front of our lesson pamphlet brings us our theme hymn for this quarter with it’s two variations in melody:
Hym 552/546 – The Lord’s My Shepherd.
Psalm 13:6: “I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me”.
“The Lord Has Made Us” has us singing
Hymn 320 – Lord of Creation and
Hymn 28 – Praise We The Lord Who Made All Beauty. “Several psalms portray God’s power over the forces in nature…”:
Hymn 88 – I Sing The Mighty Power Of God because
God Is Love – Hymn 349 and
God In His Love For Us – Hymn 641. We are then reminded as Sunday’s study closes to “shout for joy before the Lord” as does verse 2 in
Hymn 9 – Let All The World In Every Corner Sing.
Our thoughts then turn to “The Lord Reigns”:
Hymn 7 – The Lord In Zion Reigneth and
Hymn 29 – Sing Praise To God Who Reigns Above.
Knowing that “God Is The Judge”, we are able to sing this in
Hymn 418 – Day Of Judgment, Day Of Wonders!
“Ever Mindful of His Covenant”, we have great faith in
My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less (verse 3) – Hymn 522 saying on Christ the solid rock I stand.
Oh, the joy to know “His mercy is everlasting” – Psalm 103:8:
Hymn 110 – God’s Free Mercy Streameth.
To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org/Search and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
