Christ Praying

During Passover week, the priests sacrificed thousands and thousands of lambs at the temple just up the hill from the Kidron Valley. The blood from the lambs was poured onto the altar and then flowed down a channel to a brook that ran through the Kidron Valley. The brook may have actually turned red from … Continue reading –>

Monday: The New Covenant

You Are Invited

Read Matthew 26:17-19. Why is it so significant that this was the time of the Passover? See also Exod. 12:1-17, 1 Cor. 5:7. The story of the Exodus is, of course, a story of Redemption, of deliverance—a work that God does for those who could not do it for themselves. What an appropriate symbol for … Continue reading –>

Mary Anointing Jesus' Feet

We are now entering the last days of Jesus’ life on earth. He has yet to go to the cross, has yet to be resurrected, and has yet to reveal Himself fully as the crucified and risen Savior of the world. However much those who followed Jesus loved Him and appreciated Him, they still had … Continue reading –>

Looking Ahead: Jesus’ Last Days

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 10, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonApril 26, 2023avatar

Each year in the week before Easter I like to contemplate the life of Jesus day by day of the week leading up to His crucifixion.  This week as we study the following five stories from that all-important week, I will again contemplate these scenes. I will not only search the meanings and lessons, but I … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – Last Day Events

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 9, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonJune 13, 2016avatar
wait

In the context of the events depicted in Matthew 24, Jesus also said, “‘Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place’” (Matt. 24:34, NKJV). This text has led to confusion because, obviously, all these things didn’t take place in a single temporal generation. Dr. … Continue reading –>

The Bible Truth About the Rapture

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 9, 2016 by William EarnhardtJune 2, 2018avatar

“Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.” Matthew 24:40-41 NLT Many people have used this passage to suggest a secret rapture, where people will suddenly just disappear and be taken … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Keeping Watch

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 8, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonJune 11, 2016avatar
Be Watchful

The second coming of Jesus is the culmination of all Christian hopes; it is the fulfillment of all that we have been promised. Without it—what? We would rot in the ground after death just as everyone else does. Without the Second Coming and all that it entails, everything else about our faith becomes a lie, … Continue reading –>

Last Day Events – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 8, 2016 by Curtis HallJune 9, 2016avatar
An hourglass pouring the world into the lower section.

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 The Pharisees and religious rulers were standing in the way of salvation. Matthew 23 is a scathing condemnation of the most revered men in Jewish society. The reverence, respect and fear of these men touched all areas … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
