Sabbath: A Perpetual Ministry
Read for This Week’s Study:
John 4:7–30, Acts 2:42, 11:19–23, 2 Tim. 2:1–7, 2 Cor. 5:18–20.
Memory Text:
“ ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches’ ” (Luke 13:18-19, NKJV).
Key Thought:
Evangelism and witnessing are the means by which the mustard seed (the church of God) becomes a huge tree that fills the whole world.
You may have heard it said—you may even have said it yourself—“I have done my bit; I will now leave it to the younger people.” Or, “I have been evangelism leader for years, let some of the new people take over now.”
In one sense these kinds of statements are understandable. People get older, sometimes their health fails, or other life circumstances prevent them from maintaining their leadership in church ministries. Sometimes people just burn themselves out and need a break. Plus, too, some may believe that the Lord requires them to fulfill His will in other areas of church work.
There is, however, a great difference between changing ministry emphasis and ceasing to minister; as long as we have breath we should, in one capacity or another, do the latter.
This week we will focus on our need to stay involved in witnessing and evangelism ministries. No matter what our role is in the church, there are always going to be opportunities for us to minister.
Study this week’s lesson to prepare for Sabbath, June 30.
Our lives, dedicated to God, are a positive influence on everyone we come in contact with over the course of our days; Our ministries are not over until we breathe our last.
So true love the last section - we liable for witnessing. Until we breath our last breath .
Believers and beloved, because our God is immortal we shall also be immortal. Therefore our service shall never come to an end. Also we shall worship God even in heaven. My assumption is that whoever stops God's work the enemy will persuade that person to work for him.
Even being a church member, and a good listener you may have participated in God's work and the growth of the church. Some one may come to know Christ by our being faithful and honest in our dealings with others.
The two points are clear. Firstly, the evangelism and witnessing work is a continuous process requiring our participation thruoghout life. Based on this quarter's lessons, this is possible and it should be the way to go. The second point that appears a contradictory but is a complementary reality is the actors in the evangelism and witnessing mission burn out and do it on a short time and leave the work. But, those involved in the active evangelism may reach the time they can go on due human problems. We need to accept the fact that we all grow old and young people are also eager to finish the work. Hence need for another form of evangelism for the aged and agree therefore for perpertual evangelism.
We always have been inspired to go out and witness to others but as Adventist we have failed to engulf the full message. Jesus addresses many things but as our example He lived His message. We seemed to think that Bible study is our message when I recently learned of our three fold message, which one of these is Bible studies, but the other two is also just as important, which is diet, and dress reform. And from the pen of inspiration, more people will lose there salvation by the things they wear, than Biblical knowledge. Should I tell you where I find this? I wonder what would happen.
Brothers and Sisters let us share Jesus using every avenue available to us. Does really my character testify for Christ? That is all about evangelism and witnessing. Happy Sabbath all!
Fields are teaming with ripened grain, the reapers are few; let's follow the example of our Master and do the work that he bequethed us. Happy Sabbath, Saints.
Happy Sabbath saints.
The witnessing is all about caring for one another, nurturing spiritual babies.
It has been a good quarter!
