Tuesday: The Power of His Word
Read Jeremiah 51:15, 16 and Psalm 33:6, 9. In addition to wisdom, what
other attribute of God is mentioned in the Creation? How was this attribute expressed in Creation? More important, what are the implications of this truth for us?
Though we cannot know exactly how God created, we are told that it was through His powerful word. All the energy in all parts of the universe had its origin in the word of God. All the energy in all our fuels came from God’s power. All the gravity throughout the universe, every star guided in its course, and every black hole result from God’s power.
Perhaps the greatest amount of energy is within the atom itself. We are justifiably impressed by the power of nuclear weapons, in which a small amount of matter is converted into a large amount of energy. Yet, scientists tell us that all matter contains large amounts of energy. If a small amount of matter can produce the vast energy of a nuclear weapon, consider the amount of energy stored in the material of the entire world! But that is as nothing when compared with the energy stored in the matter of the universe. Imagine the power of God utilized to bring the universe into existence.
Many scientists believe that anything God may do in the creation is restricted by the “laws of nature,” but this idea is contrary to the Bible. God is not restricted by natural law; instead, God has determined natural law. God’s power has not always followed the patterns that we call the “laws of nature.”
For example, one of the fundamental “laws of nature” is the “Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy.” This law states that the total amount of matter and energy in the universe remains constant. But how could the universe appear from nothing if this law were inviolable? God’s creative word is not bound by the “laws” of science. God is sovereign over all His creation and is free to carry out His will.
Dwell (the best that you can) on the size of the universe. Think about the incredible power needed in order to create it. And to think that the God who wields such power loves us, even died for us. How can you learn to draw comfort from this amazing truth?
Hmmmmm the more I read and study His Word, the more it is cemented in my mind that there is no one or nothing more powerful than God.
Very very true. It is a must that we see Him. Someone so powerful and Who is Love.
These were some of the things that I have used to prove God's existence. God IS the author of everything created.
This is the absolute truth, God is not governed by the laws of nature because he is the source and sustainer of nature, He walked on water, He raised the dead, He separated the Red Sea, He is God, let his creation worship Him in reverence.
The Bible is God's powerful word, if followed by faith mighty things happen more than nucluer.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments each of you has made in response to my post. What a pleasure it is to find such a community. I spend each Sabbath with Primary and have so missed the discussion in Adult Sabbath School.
Hi Claire, I'm so glad you came back to see the responses. I remember what it was like to be only with children -- mine and those of others. (That was before the days of the internet. 😉 ) Hope you'll stay with us for some grown-up Sabbath School discussions. 😉
I'm thoroughly awe-struck by the considerations of this lesson. I've never thought of God in terms of concentrated energy.
i have also never thought of God in terms of supplying anything called minute or huge energies. and not only did He provide them, He sustains it. what a God we serve!!!
God is God! He can make things happen. Faith is what we need to understand all things that happened in Creation.
Amazing, so amazing, ther are no human words to express my admiration before God´s power, I can´t imagine such God´s power after having understood all the energy contained in the universe God created. That´s my God, our God.
Only remains prostrate and give praise to God
What comforts me is knowing we can receive from His source of power through prayer. Psalm 107: 28-30, Matthew 7:7, Matthew 21:22, Mark 11:24, John 14: 13,14 , Mark 9:29, Acts 9:40, James 5:14-16, Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:6,7.
God is God the creator of every thing in it I trust in him. I trust God I belive in him Thank you Lord for every thing.
God is really great, glory to him for his wonderful things.
Whom am i to question God even nature listens when he talks "peace be still"walked on water think of the red sea
Our God is indeed God. He actually creates from nothing and yet sustains them. There is indeed none like unto him
Indeed only God can create from nothing. God created life in its present form, contrary to theistic belief that He created living things in a somewhat primitive form and evolution has worked to shape the current life forms over billions of years. He is God and His creation is perfect. Praise, glory and honour be to His holy Name
God is mighty
No wonder David said by the word of the Lord were the heavens made and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Psalms 33:6. The mighty power He created in the core of this earth keeps replenishing our oil and natural gas fields, an example of His limitless power. I don't believe that this world will end due to lack of fuel, that puts a limit on God's power. It will end because to many will have separated themselves from God and His power to save. God will say it is finished, everyone will have had a chance to decide for God or against God. This gospel shall go to the ends of the earth and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 From what I understand God's word is so powerful that just before Christ comes in the air we will hear God proclaiming His covenant to us who are ready. Those will be some mighty powerful words, knowing He is sitting on His thrown beyond Orion nebulus when He speaks to us. Knowing the creation story, makes last day events more plausible. I believe he spoke and creation came about. Thus having believed, I now find it easy to believe Him when he said to me, oh John I have created you, Oh Seventh-day-Adventist I have formed you. Fear not, I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name, you are mine. Isaiah 43:1,2.
