13: Crucified and Risen – Lesson Plan
Key Thought : Angelic perfection failed in heaven. Human perfection failed in Eden. All who wish for security in earth or heaven must look to the Lamb of God.
[Lesson plan for Crucified and Risen June 22, 2015]
1. Have a volunteer read Luke 22:3.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What made Judas more susceptible to Satan’s influence than any of the other disciples?
c. Personal Application: Have you ever encountered anyone you felt was possessed or under the influence of demonic forces? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study: One of your relatives states: “I believe in God, but this concept of demons being inside a person seems too unsophisticated, it is like superstition. Bad people do bad things. The devil may be able to influence a person, but possession seems unreal.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Luke 23:6-12.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What was Herod’s big mistake in dealing with Jesus? What can we learn from this?
c. Personal Application: Have you met anyone who wouldn’t believe in Christ unless they could see a miracle or angel or other supernatural occurrence? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why is it that two people who don’t agree on anything will come together against the truth and God’s people?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
3. Have a volunteer read Luke 24:25-27.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What was Jesus focusing on in His walk with the disciples?
c. Personal Application: What Scriptures are important to you in believing in a resurrected Savior? Are these the ones you share with others? Share your thoughts..
d. Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Why is faith in a bodily resurrection important? Why does it matter whether He was in the flesh or in the Spirit when He rose and ascended?” How would you respond to your friend?
4. Have a volunteer read Luke 24:44-45.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What role does the Holy Spirit play in helping people to see and understand the truths of the Scriptures? Why are so many confused or unable to understand these truths?
c. Personal Application: How can we help people to understand the Scriptures and open their understanding? Why not set a goal of conducting one Bible study with someone this week? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
