Sabbath: The Work of the Holy Spirit — 7 Comments

  1. What a wonderful set of lessons we have had this quarter. Next quarter will be great also. About a man who walked and talked with Christ, and his Holy Spirit inspired words on Christ mission and the Everlasting Gospel. Also known as the Good News. I haven't looked at this weeks lesson yet, except for Sabbath, but I hope it talks about salvation, the work is done for us. Right Paul. Happy Sabbath.

  2. As we focus on the work of the Holy Spirit this week, I believe it would be well for us to consider which of the work of the Holy Spirit we sometimes inappropriately choose to perform ourselves.

Let's keep in mind that when we attempt to do the work of the Holy Spirit
    1) We are unlikely to get the desired results
    2) We insert ourselves between a soul and God
    3) We take the place of God, thus violating the first commandment
    4) We may either push a person into despair OR cause a person to be comfortable in sin.

    • Ironically I just am starting to spendsome time also learning soul wining 1. Is being empowered with the Holy Spirit, ask Christ every step of the way for the Holy Spirit. Thank-you for your points they are excellent point to remember when engaging in soul winning.

      • Thanks, John. I hadn't thought of my suggestions in that light. But, yes, you are right that these are points to keep in mind in soul-winning. We need to learn our part as "witness" and beware of trying to do the part of the Holy Spirit.

  4. Along with the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit, there is His work for sinners as part of the Godhead who is seeking to save all who will be saved.

God “set forth “ Jesus as our propitiation, Jesus accepted the “cup” we were supposed to drain, and now the Holy Spirit works to make all that God and Christ has done effective in our lives. This work is indispensable on our behalf and vital if the needed restoration in our lives is to be completed. This study should claim our deepest interest and highest priority.

Without the Work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus death would be unappreciated and ineffective. Without Jesus' death, the Holy Spirit's efforts would be to no avail, for without justification/pardon, sanctification/holiness is impossible to achieve. God(all 3) has supplied all that we need, and our greatest need is to realize this.

  5. We can be confident in the work of the Holy Spirit in and thru us. As Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit will respond to our need for instruction, wisdom, comfort and all that we lack to reflect and share the love of God with our fellow man.

He will help us as we seek to encourage and edify others in their search for the same Christ Who redeemed us and saved us from our sins.
