The Gift of Prophecy is once more the title of the Sabbath School lessons for the last quarter of 2026. But it is a different set of studies by different authors than in 2008. You can click on the title or the lesson cover to see the lessons for 2026, including the companion book, 

Weekly Readings

Since we are studying God’s “Gift of Prophecy” to us, we think it is appropriate to read what God is saying to us through His last-day gift to His church. How about you?

If you haven’t read these chapters before, you might want to start with the modern “digest” version of Beginning of the End, and then you can read the full version later. Either way, you’ll be thoroughly blessed!  Open the gift and read! The links go to the free mobile Ellen White site. The book cover links go to the books sold on Amazon. 

Lesson 1:

Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapters 2: “The Creation” and Chapter 3: “The Falll,” OR for a shorter version, read Beginning of the End, Chapter 2: Creation, God’s Answer to Evolution and Chapter 3: The Predicament of our First Parents. 

The links above lead to the online versions, but, of course you can read these chapters in your own books. If you don’t have your own copies, you can get the Kindle version at Amazon for very little: Patriarchs and Prophets and Beginning of the End.You’ll also find paperback and hardback copies at the same URLs. 

Lesson 2:

You have a choice of many interesting chapters. Read as much or as little as you have time for. I am certain you come away with a blessing:

Abraham:

Chapter 12 of Beginning of the End is titled, “Abraham, a Good Neighbor in Canaan.” It begins with Abraham and Lot arriving together in Canaan, then splitting up because their herds were too great. It includes the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and ends shortly after. This chapter has sub-sections, and you can choose what you want to read. 
Or you can choose to read the same Chapter 12 in Patriarchs and Prophets. And, of course, you don’t need to stop reading at the end of the chapter. 

Elijah: 

You can read Chapter 9 titled “Elijah Confronts King Ahab, in Royalty and Ruin, the condensed modern-language edition of Prophets and Kings. 

Or you can read Chapter 9 in Prophets and Kings. (Clicking on the book title will take you to Amazon.com, where  you can purchase a Kindle or paper version of the book.)

Daniel:

For Isaiah, you could read about “Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream of World Empires,” in Royalty and Ruin, or you might want to read one of the later chapters. You could also read about “Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream,” in Chapter 40 of Prophets and Kings. The chapters before and after are great too.

John the Baptist

Humble Hero is a modern-language digest version of The Desire of Ages, and “The Voice in the Wilderness” in Humble Hero focuses on John the Baptist. You’ll find that the chapter is broken up into smaller section, and you need to choose “Next” to read the next section.
If you prefer the original longer version with more Bible texts, you can read the same chapter in The Desire of Ages.

The  book, The Gift of Prophecy, by Gerhard Pfandl (see right) is still available on Amazon. Since it was published in 2008,  we believe it was the official companion book to the lessons.

Topics from The Prophetic Gift (Adult Bible Study Guide 2008a) by Gerhard Pfandl are listed in the table below.  We have not been able to find any 2008 lesson quarterlies for sale, but you can read and study the lessons online on our site by clicking on the weekly topics.
