Key Thought: For most of human history, education took place mostly in the home, especially in the early years. What does the Bible say about education in the family?

A. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:1-15.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What does this text teach and why would these surely have been part of the education that Adam and Eve taught their children?
- Personal Application: Whatever your home situation, what choices can you make for it to be a place where truth is taught and lived? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “I think that if children are not sharing their fears and troubles with their parents, they are probably being criticized more than being affirmed.” How would you respond to your relative?
B. Have a volunteer read Psalms 37:7-9, Proverbs 10:31,32, Ephesians 4:15, Proverbs 27:17.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What can we learn here about how to build strong family relationships?
- Personal Application: Why is it so important to consider how we say something as well as what we say? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “How much social interaction should we have with our children? Should we set time aside to give exclusive attention to our children?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 5:22-26.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What can parents learn from this text?
- Personal Application: How are husbands to love their wives as Christ love the church? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “This is based on an old patriarchal society. Women are just as smart as men and proved that they have leadership capabilities. We don’t need to be subject to our husbands. We can make our own choices and if my husband doesn’t agree or like it, that’s just too bad. ” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Deuteronomy 6:4-7.

- Personal Application: How important is it to always keep the reality of the Lord and His Word before our children and ourselves as well? Share your thoughts.
