10: Education in Arts and Sciences – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: For education to function correctly, we need God’s Word to inform the teaching of every discipline. Without it, we could lose sight of the Creator and Sustainer of our world.

A. Have a volunteer read Romans 1:18-21.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What does this text tell us about God’s work as our Creator?
- Personal Application: Can you draw hope and comfort from God’s Creation especially in times of personal trials and suffering? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “How are the invisible things clearly seen by what was made? Why are scientists conceited and unrighteous by not giving Gods the glory in Creation?“ How would you respond to your relative?
B. Have a volunteer read I Timothy 6:9-11.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What are the things that Paul warns us against?
- Personal Application: Can poor people be just as guilty of rich people in coveting after money? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “How do rich people fall into temptation and foolish and hurtful lusts that bring sorrows?” How would you respond to your friend?
C. Have a volunteer read Proverbs 1:5-11, 19..
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is true education really about?
- Personal Application: What is the difference between wisdom and knowledge? Why can knowledge lead to error and meaninglessness? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “It seems pointless to teach your children. They don’t listen. They rebel and do exactly what you tell them not to. They listen more to their friends than their own parents. What are we supposed to do?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
D. Have a volunteer read Job 38:31-33..
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- How do these verses help us understand God’s Creative power and knowledge?
- Personal Application: How can you defend the Bible against those who believe the scientific “evidence” that the earth is billions of years old created by a big bang theory? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
