2: Covenant Primer – Singing with Inspiration
This quarter “The Week at a Glance” shows God’s covenant is spoken of mostly. God has made his promises (covenant) with many people in the Bible, and continues to give us promises for today, hence for a theme hymn I find that I wish to keep standing on the Promises that God has given to us all –
Hymn 518 – Standing on the Promises as
My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less – Hymn 522.
This week’s memory verse asks us to obey God’s voice and keep His covenant which is shown in
Hymn 590 – Trust and Obey. Sabbath afternoon’s introduction ends with questions, one of which asks how faith helps us keep a covenant:
Hymn 517 – My Faith Looks Up to Thee,
Hymn 523 – My Faith Has Found a Resting Place,
Hymn 608 – Faith Is the Victory and the request of
O Brother Be Faithful – Hymn 602.
Hymn 518 – Standing on the Promises,
Hymn 590 – Trust and Obey and
Hymn 339 – God Is My Strong Salvation seems to sum up Sunday. God’s promise is once again given on Monday, this time to Noah.
God promises blessings to Abram, just like the promise of blessings in
Hymn 694/695 – Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow. Once again there are promises on which to stand. By faith Abram left his homeland and followed God’s instructions knowing God’s faithfulness –
Hymn 100 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness.
Amazing Grace – Hymn 108 was shown by God to Moses and the children of Israel as they were lead out of Egypt – Wednesday and extending into Thursday.
The “Inside Story” ends with “Just be like Jesus” –
Hymn 311 – I Would Be Like Jesus.
To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing, but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
