6: Abraham’s Seed – Singing with Inspiration
This quarter “The Week at a Glance” shows God’s covenant is spoken of mostly. God has made his promises (covenant) with many people in the Bible, and continues to give us promises for today, hence for a theme hymn I find that I wish to keep standing on the Promises that God has given to us all –
Hymn 518 – Standing on the Promises as
My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less – Hymn 522.
We see many times in this week’s lesson we are to praise the God of Abraham
Hymn 11 – The God of Abraham Praise. The covenant given to Abraham is shown as a great promise as in
Hymn 518 – Standing on the Promises and
Hymn 516 – All the Way in which perfect rest to you and me is promised. This is also found in
Hymn 524 – ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus and
Hymn 532 – Day By Day.
As Abraham journeyed he could have been singing
Hymn 620 – On Jordan’s Stormy Bank, I am bound for the promised land.
We see on Wednesday that others would join the faithful to
O Worship the King – Hymn 83 (Zechariah 14:16). God has faithful people –
O Brother Be Faithful – Hymn 602.
“As a son of Abraham, Christ became, in a special sense, heir to the covenant” and so it is that we are
Heir of the Kingdom – Hymn 594, but we are not to slumber and sleep when Jesus coming is so very soon. We certainly can sing
The God of Abraham Praise – Hymn 11.
To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing, but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
