“In stooping to take upon Himself humanity, Christ revealed a character the opposite of the character of Satan. But He stepped still lower in the path of humiliation. ‘Being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.’ Philippians 2:8. As the high priest laid aside his gorgeous pontifical robes, and officiated in the white linen dress of the common priest, so Christ took the form of a servant, and offered sacrifice, Himself the priest, Himself the victim. ‘He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him.’ Isaiah 53:5.

I love maps. I read maps like some people read "Whodonits"; with great enjoyment. My love of maps is useful. When I went to America for a conference in Las Vegas I took Carmel with me. We decided to have a weeks holiday in the Utah National Parks before the conference. We flew into the McCarren Airport (they have since changed the name), picked up a rental car, drove on to Highway 15 and drove up to Zion National Park. Carmel was totally amazed and said. "how do you know where to go?"
I explained to her about the joy of viewing Google Earth and seeing Street-view. It was just like I had been there. I had seen the interchanges and the topography and put that knowledge into practice. I even managed to master driving on the wrong side of the road.
Our lesson studies are a bit like studying the Google Earth of our spiritual journey, but if all we do is study and talk about the theory of Christianity, what is the use?
I hear comments so often that we must study the Word of God and pray for the Holy Spirit. I hear long and detailed arguments about the mechanism of salvation and the nature of the Godhead. But somewhere in our spiritual journey, the rubber must hit the road and we have to go out in faith into a hostile or even uncaring world and demonstrate the practicality of Christianity.
What have we learned from this week's study? This week's lesson title, "The Source of Life" implies that we are spiritually alive and going somewhere and doing something. That is what "live" people do. Now that we have read the map, where are we going? Or, are we satisfied with telling people what good map-readers we are?
So Maurice, what are the 'Whodonits', are they those who only study the theory of Christianity? I am not familiar with your jargon.
I have one upon you, I navigate similar to birds with all my senses, and this marvioulus device behind my nose. Yes I use instruments, maps, GPS, when I fly unlike the birds. Is it not the God given to birds the ability to migrate without the tools I use marvioulus?
Well, John, are you familiar with "whodunits" pronounced "who-done-its"? In other words, detective stories, which can be addicting as readers try to solve the "who done it" mystery before the end of the story.
That's how I read Maurice's reference. But Maurice can explain it for himself. 😉

It's not easy to place ourselves entirely under Jesus' skin. How much will I go through to save an ungrateful son/daughter? Unimaginable!

Our hope, or faith if you prefer, is built on nothing less than Jesus Blood and His righteousness. Yes indeed on Christ the solid rock we stand...
23 years ago we lived on the side of a mountain for a year until we found a more permanent home. This 1st year my father came to visit us and said, don't live here you will slide across the road below and into the water of the dam below, when a flooding storm comes. My response was see that huge rock over there 15 feet from our home, we will all cling to that rock. Looking back now that was kind of obnoxious. He got the point though and never said that again. Well, as it turned out, our more permanent home became on top of a mountain. He was very pleased with our location.
There was about 700 yards away from our more perminent home
a small mountain. It was a nice Sabbath afternoon to walk to and climb. It was at 29 tenths of a mile above sea-level. And we lived at 26 tenths of a mile above sea level.
A second story was our neighbor. She was a widow of a pastor of a different denomination. She was attracted to us because of my wife's out reach of love. She said you are Seventh-day Adventist, why yes we are. I was bold and said have you watched Amazing Facts. No, my husband I married him because I liked his sermons, so I stick with his faith, or religion if you prefer. We stayed friends with this widow.
We stay grounded in our faith, as we become friends with others. Again the faith we live by.
