Family Praying

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 13th of May 2026 In the same way that Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:5-15, we can follow this simple model when we come to God privately, with our families, or as a church, remembering that prayer is speaking to God as a friend. Too often our prayers … Continue reading –>

Jesus Praying

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 12th of May 2026 In the time of Jesus, prayers that were long and carefully crafted like a performance—using complex words and often memorized—were highly esteemed. Jesus had nothing good to say about these kinds of prayers (see Matthew 6:5-8). He revealed them to be what they were: ostentatious shows of … Continue reading –>

Hannah Praying

Daily Lesson for Monday 11th of May 2026 Perhaps you’ve prayed about something for a long time, maybe even years, and it feels as if God hasn’t heard your prayers. The Bible tells us to “ask, and it shall be given you” (Matthew 7:7), “if we ask anything according to His will” (1 John 5:14, … Continue reading –>

Elijah Praying

Daily Lesson for Sunday 10th of May 2026 Faithful Elijah lived in evil times, with King Ahab doing more “to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him” (1 Kings 16:33, NKJV). By far the most dramatic moments in Elijah’s life came with the confrontation … Continue reading –>

Spectacles on Bible

Daily Lesson for Friday 8th of May 2026 Further Thought: Ultimately, we should pray because we love God so much, and we just can’t help sharing everything in our lives with Him: our joys and life’s “wins,” our burdens and worries, our requests and daily needs. “We may keep so near to God that in … Continue reading –>

Moses Pleading

Daily Lesson for Thursday 7th of May 2026 Read Exodus 32:31-32. What does this teach us about Moses and prayer? Moses boldly interceded for God’s people time and time again. Moses turned to God when the people were thirsty (Exodus 15:25, Exodus 17:2-6), when the people were hungry (Numbers 11:21-22), and in sheer desperation (Numbers … Continue reading –>

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 6th of May 2026 Although Enoch clearly had a very close relationship with God, we have more insight into Moses’ relationship with God and can even read numerous accounts of Moses’ conversations with Him. As we journey with Moses through the ups and downs of this humble leader’s life, we see … Continue reading –>

Enoch Walking with God

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 5th of May 2026 Read Genesis 5:22-24. What, exactly, do we know about Enoch? The Bible doesn’t share a lot about Enoch’s life, but it does tell us that he walked with God for 300 years until God took him to heaven. How beautiful that a person’s consistent devotion to God … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
