1. Have a volunteer read John 14:29, Revelation 1:1.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What is the purpose of prophecy?
- Personal Application: What does it mean to signify the book of Revelation? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Why didn’t God just state things clearly instead of putting things in symbolic language and parables?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Revelation 1:4,5.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What do these names of Jesus mentioned here mean to us?
- Personal Application:: Why does John’s letter start off with a grace and peace salutation? What does this tell us about God? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study : One of your friends states, “Why does this describe Goid as the one who was, is, and is to come? This doesn’t make sense. Why does He describe Himself that way?.” How would you reply to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Revelation 1:4,5.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- How do you respond to those who say that Jesus comes to us when we die?
- Personal Application: What certainty does this Scripture give us about the second coming of Jesus Christ? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “What does it mean that they also who pierced Him will see Him come in the clouds? Aren’t they dead? Will their spirits in hell see Him coming?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 1:1,2.
