Thursday: The Covenant – Part 2

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 20, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonApril 8, 2022avatar
Noah and the Rainbow

Read Genesis 8:21-9:1. What is the significance of God’s commitment to the preservation of life? How does God’s blessing fulfill that commitment? God’s commitment to preserve life was an act of grace; it was not a result of human merits. God decided to preserve life on earth in spite of human evil (Genesis 8:21). Genesis 8:22 reads, literally, “all … Continue reading –>

Noah's Thank Offering

Now it is the moment when the promised covenant was to be fulfilled. “But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark — you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you” (Genesis 6:18, NKJV). In contrast to the divine threat to destroy (Genesis 6:17), this covenant is the … Continue reading –>

God Will Remember You

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 18, 2022 by William EarnhardtMay 5, 2022avatar

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark…. Genesis 8:1 NKJV A family I had studied with called me late one afternoon, asking me to meet them ASAP at the hospital. Their mother was dying, and they wanted prayer. Now I believe that God … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: The End of the Flood

Noah and the Dove

Genesis 7:22-24 describe the overwhelming and comprehensive effect of the waters, which “destroyed all living things” (Genesis 7:23, NKJV) and “prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days” (Genesis 7:24, NKJV). It is against this background of total annihilation and hopelessness that “God remembered” (Genesis 8:1). This phrase is situated in the center of the texts covering the Flood, … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Event of the Flood

The Great Flood

The verb ‘asah, “make,” which refers to Noah’s actions, is also a keyword in the Genesis Creation account (Genesis 1:7, Genesis 1:16, Genesis 1:25-26, Genesis 1:31; Genesis 2:2). Noah’s acts of obedience to God are like God’s acts of creation. What we can take from this link is that the Flood is not just about God punishing humanity, but about God … Continue reading –>

4: The Flood – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 17, 2022 by Michael FrackerApril 17, 2022Michael Fracker

Key Thought: God’s response to wickedness has two sides. It contains the threat of justice, leading to destruction for some; and yet, His response promises comfort and mercy, leading to salvation for others. April 23, 2022 1. Have a volunteer read Genesis 7:10-13, 24. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the … Continue reading –>

4: The Flood – Singing With Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 17, 2022 by Corinne KnopperApril 17, 2022avatar

The book of Genesis offers us so many vast topics from which to choose a theme hymn. As we are starting at the very beginning, I would like to give praise to our Creator of heaven and earth by singing  Hymn 320 – Lord of Creation and  Hymn 2 – All Creatures of Our God and … Continue reading –>

Building the Ark

Read Genesis 6:13-7:10. What lesson can we learn from this amazing account of early human history? Like Daniel, Noah is a prophet who predicts the end of the world. The Hebrew word for the “ark” (tevah) (Genesis 6:14) is the same rare Egyptian loanword that was used for the “ark,” in which the infant Moses was hidden, who … Continue reading –>

Dante Marvin Herrmann

Forgiven in Prison, Part 2 By Andrew McChesney The next Sabbath, inmate Matías greeted Dante, a 36-year-old theology student from Sagunto Adventist College, with a flurry of happy conversation at the prison in Spain. After several minutes, however, Matías abruptly changed his tone and began to fidget nervously. He spoke about his childhood and adult … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
