A. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:7-11.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why did God ask Adam, “Where are you?” Didn’t He know where Adam was?
- Personal Application: Have you ever tried to “hide” from God for some reason? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Didn’t Adam and Eve know they were naked before? Why did they realize that after they sinned? Why were they hiding from God then? How would you respond to your relative?
B. Have a volunteer read John 1:1-14.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What does this text tell us about the nature of Jesus and who He is?
- Personal Application: Have you had a teacher that you looked up to or admired because of their teaching style or interest in their students? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “What are some of the methods Jesus used to exemplify the fact that He was an effective Rabbi or Teacher?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Matthew 15:21-28.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- Why did Jesus say that He was not sent but unto the lost sheep of Israel?
- Personal Application: What was so great about the Canaanite’s faith? How do you rate your faith in God? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Why did Jesus seem to be dismissing this Canaanite woman? I thought He wanted to help, heal, and save everyone. Why did she have to persist in order to get His help?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Mark 10:46-52.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- How important is it that we be persistent in wanting to see and follow Jesus?
- Personal Application: In what ways can we, or others, be blind as to who God is and what He wants to do for us and what He wants us to do? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
