Lesson 7, August 18, 2018

1. Have a volunteer read Acts 13:6-12.

1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important
   point in this text is.
2. What importance does fasting, prayer, and laying on of hands have in our missionary work and ministry today?
3. Personal Application: Is it easier to reach a non-Christian with the present truth or a Christian of another denomination? Share your thoughts.
4. Case Study: One of your relatives states: “How could a Jew get involved in sorcery? Aren’t they taught in Scriptures that sorcerers are an abomination to God and were to be put to death?” How would you respond to your relative?

2. Have a volunteer read Acts 13:42-48.

1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
2. Why were the Jews jealous of Paul and his teaching?
3. Personal Application: Why is it hard to preach the Adventist message to members of other Christian churches? Share your thoughts.
4. Case Study: One of your friends states, “What is so important about Paul’s actions concerning the Gentiles invitation to preach to them and to the whole city? Why did they have to wait a whole week?” How would you reply to your friend?

3. Have a volunteer read Acts 14:1-7.

1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
2. Why do you think the apostles stayed a long time in Iconium? Were they trying to show by example the power of God in their lifestyles and interactions with others?
3. Personal Application: How should we respond when we are verbally or physically attacked for sharing the gospel? Share your thoughts
4. Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Do you think the apostles gained lasting converts in Iconium? It does say after persevering effort the city was divided, but when the mob came after them, they fled to Iconium. Did the converts they left behind stay faithful, or get intimidated to fall away? ” How would you respond to your neighbor?

4. Have a volunteer read Acts 14:13-19

1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
2. Why did the people want to worship Paul and the apostles and yet other Jews wanted to stone him to death?
3. Personal Application: Is there a danger in becoming prideful in sharing the gospel when you meet with success? Share your thoughts.
4. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
