8: Education and Redemption – Singing with Inspiration
Hymn 193 – Savior, Teach me and
Hymn 266 – Spirit of God may be used as the theme hymns for education this quarter followed by
Hymn 492 – Like Jesus.
Sabbath afternoon shows the
Marvellous Grace – Hymn 109 that God extends toward His people, as does
Hymn 108 – Amazing Grace.
Sunday shows our best education comes from the Bible –
Hymn 272 – Give Me the Bible showing us the
Lord of Creation – Hymn 320
On Monday Nicodemus “identified Jesus’ teaching gifts as coming from God”, namely in His miracles –
Hymn 111 – It Took a Miracle.
Prophets were great teachers. We hear this in
Hymn 81 – Though I Speak With Tongues,
Hymn 238 – How Sweet the Name! and
Hymn 413 – God Has Spoken By His Prophets.
On the topic of being wise and having wisdom, the first hymn to come to mind is
Hymn 21 – Immortal, Invisible, God only Wise followed by
Hymn 638 – The Wise May Bring Their Learning.
There are a number of hymns that tell us of wisdom, both God and human:
Hymn 22 God Is Our Song (verse 1),
Hymn 80 – O World of God (verse 3),
Hymn 88 – I Sing the Mighty Power of God (verse 1),
Hymn 90 – Eternal God Whose Power Upholds,
Hymn 111 – It Took a Miracle (verse 3),
Hymn 277 – For Your Holy Book We Thank You, to name a few.
“Jesus provided His followers with ongoing or continuing education under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit”. We ask now Hover O’er Me, Holy Spirit – Hymn 260 so we may continue to learn.
As with all education, we are to learn to
Trust and Obey – Hymn 590.
