  1. There's this thing about Jesus Christ that blows my mind. Tuesday's lesson talks about Mary and her motivation to give. But first, If I was at the feast sitting at the table with the rest of the people I would like and of the anybody else shun her seeing I know her profession 'cause maybe I'd been at her job site before (have mercy) and knowing where the money came from! But here comes Jesus! He did not look on her pass because He Knew her future. Jesus knew her motives and He was able to commend her for the faithfulness she showed. God sees our motivation.

    • Reading what you were saying, Roland, brought 1 Samuel 16:7 to mind as an affirmation of the truth of what you outlined.

  2. And...Let's remember that Jesus not only sees our motivation, but also offers to overwhelm us with His love for us that will purify us and motivate us as He was able to do with Mary.

  3. Too often we operate like those sitting at the table with Jesus. We are in church and someone gets up and express his or her overwhelming gratitude to God in a way that we sometimes refer to as disruptive to the service. We do not know what God has done for the individual and sometimes when we do know we are not able to see that person past their past. In other words, even though we know God has redeemed this individual who was a thief, homosexual, etc., we cannot see past that. Somehow we act as if we believe that some sins are unforgiverable or even though that individual has been forgiven they should remain silent in church because he or she has that past.
