Key Thought: The Bible repeatedly reveals that the church is a place where services and relevant discussions should take place where people can grow in their knowledge of God and His will for their lives.

A. Have a volunteer read Luke 10:36,37..
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What was the point that Jesus was making about this story?
- Personal Application: What prejudices does your culture and/or society teach that you must rise above? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Adventists are a cult aren’t they? Don’t they keep the old Jewish laws as legalists? Don’t they have a self-proclaimed prophet that tells them what to believe?“ How would you respond to your relative?
B. Have a volunteer read Matthew 5:14-16.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What do these texts tell us how we are to live and how it influences how others see God
- Personal Application: What are some ways that we can point others to the reality and goodness of God? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “How are we supposed to be light to others? How are we supposed to let our light shine? How do we live a Christian life so that people are drawn to Jesus?” How would you respond to your friend?
C. Have a volunteer read Luke 4:18,19.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is Christ’s message to all of His followers?
- Personal Application: Because this was Christ’s mission, how are we to apply these words to our duty in mission as well? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “I think that unless we live what we preach, noone will listen to us. It is taking care of the sick, visiting the lonely, feeding the hungry, and showing love and compassion for others. Doctrine isn’t that important just as long as you love people.” How would you respond to your neighbor.
D. Have a volunteer read I Thessalonians 2:6-8.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is Paul saying that we could and should reflect in our schools and churches?
- Personal Application: Ask yourself what kind of witness am I to those around me? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
