9: The Foundation of God’s Government – Teaching Plan
Key Thought : As we see the heavenly sanctuary and judgment day, we realize the significance of God’s law and the Sabbath in the heart of God’s law.

1. Have a volunteer read Matthew 5:17,18; Eccl 12:13,14; I John 5:3.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What is the relationship between God’s law and His character?
- Personal Application: What reasons do you have for wanting to keep God’s commandments? Are you trying to do the impossible? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states, “We don’t have to keep the commandments anymore. We are under grace, not under the law. If you are trying to obey the law, you are a legalist.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Revelation 14:6,7; 4:11, Genewsis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How does the Sabbath like the Creation story and the law of God together?
- Personal Application: How is the Sabbath a symbol of redemption and righteousness by faith? Share your thoughts.(Note: See Ezekiel 20:12 and 20:20.)
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why do you keep the Old Jewish Sabbath? Don’t you know the old covenant has been done away with and we are under the new covenant of grace? The Sabbath was a shadow that Jesus eclipsed with His resurrection on Sunday.” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:12,17; 13:7; 14:7,9-11.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why is Satan so angry with God’s end-time people?
- Personal Application: What key theme occurs in all these verses? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states: “The world seems to be dramatically changing. How can we be vigilant so that these events don’t catch us unprepared?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 14:12.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What are the two identifying characteristics of those who refuse to worship the beast? Why are both important?
- Personal Application: How is God preparing your faith today for what is coming in the future? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
