Babylon and Armageddon – Teaching Plan
Key Thought : The battle of Armageddon is spiritual and will oppose all the forces of evil to the camp of the kingdom of God.
1. Have a volunteer read Revelation 16:12-14.
A. Ask class members to share what the most important point of this text is.
B. What influence does the three unclean spirits work on the world to unite Catholics, Protestants, and Pagans together?
C. Personal Application : Do you see the movement of ecumenalism becoming more bold and decided to reconcile different faiths with each other by the things they hold in common? Share your thoughts.
D. Case Study: One of your relatives states, “I think Armageddon is a place in Israel where the Jews enemies will come against them, probably Russia, China, and some of the Arab nations of Islam.” How would you reply to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read I Kings 18:11-16
A. Ask class members to share what the most important point of this text is.
B What happens in these passages that reflects some of the issues that will unfold in
the final events?
E. Personal Application : Have you because of your faith. Ever been accused of causing trouble? Share your thoughts.
F. Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why would the government leaders think that Seventh-day Adventists were the cause of all the troubles on the earth? Violence, rioting, murder, hurricanes, earthquakes, diseases, etc.” How would you reply to your relative?
3. Have a volunteer read I Kings 18:17-21.
A. Ask class members to share what the most important point of this text is.
B. Who called for the meeting? What is the purpose of the showdown?
C. Personal Application : Do you have the courage, strength, faith, and knowledge to face the religious leaders and government officials to show them their ewrrors? Share your thoughts.
D. Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Do you really think there is going to be a big showdown between SDA’s and all the churches and government leaders in the future? That sounds pretty far-fetched.” How would you reply to your relative?
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 18:2,3.
A. Ask class members to share what the most important point of this text is.
B. What are some of the teachings and practices of Babylon that lead to it being full of demons, foul spirits, and unclean birds?
C. Personal Application : Can a member of the SDA Church be a part of babylon? Why or why not? Share your thoughts.
D. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with that person.
