Is the Church Infallible?

Christ Points the Way

And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matthew 16:19 NLT  Many believe that in Matthew 16, Jesus was setting Peter up as the first pope and giving the church … Continue reading –>

Not long after starting to write for Sabbath School Net just over four years ago, I was asked to help moderate comments on the blog posts. This has been an eye-opening experience for me. With comments from all parts of the world, I have encountered ideas from Scripture that I never would have thought of myself or heard by just … Continue reading –>

Why All Those Begats?

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 29, 2016 by William EarnhardtApril 5, 2016avatar

So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. Hebrews 2:11 NLT  When I was a youth reading my Bible all the way through for the first time and came to the begats, such as in Matthew 1, I found them … Continue reading –>

01: Son of David – Questions for discussion

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 28, 2016 by Joyce GriffithApril 1, 2016Joyce Griffith

The Son of David. Do you have a hard time with the expression that Jesus was “the Son of David?” What does this phrase mean? What special meaning does this title give to Jesus? Why is it important to believe that Jesus was the “son” of David? Another Genesis. If the account of Jesus’ genealogy in … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
