1: Living in a 24-7 Society – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 26, 2021 by Corinne KnopperJune 26, 2021avatar

Rest. The word used most frequently in our Sabbath School Lesson pamphlet this quarter. “Thou shalt rest, Thou shalt rest!” These are words repeated each verse of Hymn 387 – Come, O Sabbath Day, our theme hymn for this quarter. Sabbath afternoon’s introduction leaves us with a daunting question that is answered in Hymn 495 … Continue reading –>

Woman Resting in the Word

Read Genesis 2:1-3. Why would God create a rest day before anyone was even tired? Even before humanity would dash off on our self-imposed stressful lives, God established a marker, a living way to jog our memory. This day would be a time to stop and deliberately enjoy life; a day to be and not to … Continue reading –>

Man Praying While Holding Bible

Rest for the Restless   The flight had been uneventful until the moment the captain announced from the flight deck that the plane would have to cross a major storm. “Please tighten your seat belts. We will be in for quite a ride,” the voice from the cockpit said in ending the announcement. Soon after, … Continue reading –>

Further Thought: Read Ellen G. White, “God’s People Delivered,” pages 635-645, in The Great Controversy; “Rejoicing in the Lord,” pages 115-126, in Steps to Christ. “The holy Son of God had no sins or griefs of his own to bear: he was bearing the griefs of others; for on him was laid the iniquity of us all. Through divine … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: New Covenant and Eternal Life

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 22, 2021 by Sabbath School LessonJune 13, 2021avatar
Second Coming

“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” (John 11:25-26). There are two dimensions to eternal life. The present dimension brings to the believer an experience of the abundant life now (John 10:10), which includes the many promises … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
