Man With Heart and Dove

Mongolia Abba (Continued from Last Week) Daba learned that a group of Christians was meeting in the village, and he invited me to go with him to the meeting. I went out of respect for Daba, but I did not want to go. I was embarrassed to go to a Christian meeting. We talked about … Continue reading –>

A Father\'S Love

To eat the flesh and drink the blood of Christ is to receive Him as a personal Saviour, believing that He forgives our sins, and that we are complete in Him. It is by beholding His love, by dwelling upon it, by drinking it in, that we are to become partakers of His nature. What … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Lord’s Supper

Remember Me

Read Luke 22:13-20. What is the significance of the Lord’s Supper taking place at the Passover? Jesus founded the Lord’s Supper against the historic context of the Passover feast. The Passover setting underscores human impotence in contrast to God’s great power. It was as impossible for Israel to free itself from Egyptian bondage as it … Continue reading –>

12: Jesus in Jerusalem – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 16, 2015 by Joyce GriffithJune 16, 2015Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Jesus in Jerusalem June 16, 2015] 1. The last week. With what emotional armor did Jesus face the trials and rewards of the last week of His earthly life? Could He have confronted them with dignity if He’d had any spark of worldly desire within Him? All of the world spun in suspension, as it were, … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: God versus Caesar

Roman Coin

Read Luke 20:20-26. How do we take what Jesus taught here and apply it to our own situation in whatever country we live? During the time of Jesus, taxation by Rome was a volatile issue. Around A.D. 6, according to Josephus, Judas the Galilean, a revolutionary leader, declared that paying taxes to Caesar was treason … Continue reading –>

12: Jesus in Jerusalem – Lesson Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 15, 2015 by Michael FrackerAugust 6, 2015Michael Fracker

Key Thought : A theoretical knowledge of Christ will not do us any good. We must feed upon Him, receive Him into the heart, so that His life, His love, His grace must be assimulated. [Lesson plan for Jesus in Jerusalem June 15, 2015] 1. Have a volunteer read Luke 19:33-40. a. Ask class members … Continue reading –>

Jesus With Grapes

The parable of the wicked vinedressers (Luke 20:9-19) gives us a lesson in redemptive history. The center of that history is God and His continual love for erring sinners. Although the parable was specifically addressed to the Jewish leaders of His time (they knew He had spoken this parable against them [vs. 19, NKJV]), it … Continue reading –>

Tabernacle

It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves (Luke 19:46). After the triumphal entry, during which Jesus wept over Jerusalem, the first thing He did was to go to the temple. Read Luke 19:45-48, Matthew 21:12-17, Mark 11:15-19. What important lessons can we take … Continue reading –>

He was born in Bethlehem. He grew up in Nazareth. He taught, preached, and healed throughout Galilee, Samaria, Judea, and Perea. But one city held His constant focus: Jerusalem. Jesus steadfastly set His face to go to the city (Luke 9:51, NKJV). His entry into the city marked the most dramatic and crucial week in … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
