Spectacles on Bible

People Coming to Jesus

Daily Lesson for Thursday 26th of December 2024 Read John 12:32. In what ways does this striking statement describe the authority of Jesus Christ? As we have seen throughout this quarter’s lessons, the Gospel of John draws us to Jesus, but only if we are willing to know God and to do His will. Throughout … Continue reading –>

Jesus Heals Nobleman's Son

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 25th of December 2024 Read John 4:46-54. What problem brought the official to Jesus, and what was the real underlying issue here? This man came to Jesus, the Light of the world, but he had made up his mind to believe only if Jesus healed his child. We could say this … Continue reading –>

Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Light and Darkness

Jesus Lifting Peter From Water

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 24th of December 2024 Read John 1:4-10; John 3:19-21; John 5:35; John 8:12; John 9:5; John 11:9-10; and John 12:35. What great contrast is present here, and why is this contrast so foundational to understanding truth? The world is in darkness; it shuns the light and cannot, on its own, find … Continue reading –>

Jesus Teaching Disciples

Daily Lesson for Monday 23rd of December 2024 Read John 21:20-22. What question led Peter down a wrong path? How did Jesus straighten the path? Jesus had just restored Peter to ministry and told him, “Follow me” (John 21:19). It was probably an actual physical following of Jesus down the beach. And that is because … Continue reading –>

13: Epilogue: Knowing Jesus and His Word – Singing With Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 21, 2024 by Corinne KnopperDecember 21, 2024avatar

ohn has written what is possibly the most well-known Bible verse in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son” which has had many say  Lord, I Have Made Thy Word My Choice – Hymn 273 and  Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272. John writes of many people who turned … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
