Crisis in Heaven – Teaching Plan
Key Thought : Even though we may not completely understand how sin originated in heaven, we can understand the great controversy and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.
Crisis in Heaven December 26 – January 1, 2016
1. Have a volunteer read Ezekiel 28:12-19.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What descriptions here indicate that this is speaking of someone greater than a human ruler?
c. Personal Application : Can people today be just as guilty as Satan of pride and self-importance, putting themselves above God? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “I don’t believe there is a literal devil. It just personifies all the evil that men hold in their own hearts.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Job 1:6,7; 2:1,2.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What does it mean when Satan said he was walking to and fro upon the earth?
c. Personal Application : What evidence can we see of Satan’s work in this world? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “What does it mean that Satan is the ruler of this world? Are we under Satan’s rule?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
3. Have a volunteer read Hebrews 12:1,2.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. Who are these cloud of witnesses mentioned here?
c. Personal Application: What encouragement do you get from the fact that these witnesses were people with fears, passions, and weaknesses? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “How do we ‘lay aside’ sin and every weight? Is it that easy to lay aside our troubles, trials, worries, weaknesses, and failures?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:12-14.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is. b. What does the woman describe here? Do you see any church being persecuted by the devil? How?
c. Personal Application: Do you believe God will protect you from persecution and the devil’s anger? Share your thoughts. d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
