The Great Controversy – Lesson Plan
Key Thought: Job shows the controversy going on as Satan comes as his accuser. Christ redeemed humanity and will finally destroy Satan.
1. Have a volunteer read Job 1:1-6.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What kind of life did Job have and live according to these texts?
c. Personal Application : What are the good things in your life? How can you learn to be in an attitude of gratitude for them? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “Why did Job pray continually for his children? Does a parents prayer make a difference for their children even if they exercise free will and sin against God? How would you respond to your relatives?
2. Have a volunteer read Job 1:7-12.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What are some other texts that speak of Satan and his demons?
c. Personal Application : What are ways that you see the reality of Satan’s work in our world? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “War, death, disease, sickness, and hatred are a natural part of life. Why do people always subscribe bad things that happen to an evil personage called the devil? Most troubles come from our own inborn tendencies to be selfish and uncaring toward others.” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Ezekiel 28:12-16.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What does this text tell us about the origin of the great controversy that is being played out here on earth?
c. Personal Application: What are some important choices that you are facing now, and what promises can you claim to insure you make good ones? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “What things in your life or life in general do you find difficult to explain? How often do these things have to do with the reality of sin and the great conflict” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Romans I Corinthians 4:9

b. Are we pawns in the spiritual battle of the universe? Why or why not?
c. Personal Application : How does the great conflict play out in your life? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
