Jesus Bade Them, “Follow Me” – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: We are asked to look for and find opportunities to lead people to follow Jesus as their Savior.
1. Have a volunteer read Luke 19:5-10.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. Why did Zacchaeus need to climb a tree to see Jesus? Is there a lesson we should take from this story?
c. Personal Application : How do you act to new people in the church? Do you make intentional effort to talk to them? Or do you ignore them? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your elderly female relatives states: “How do you know when you are in the right place where God wants you to be, doing what He wants you to do?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Acts 26:22-27.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. How important was it that Paul gave his personal testimony in sharing the gospel with the king?
c. Personal Application : What is your personal story and how can you learn to share it with others? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “What are some dangers of preaching to people before we have mingled with them, showed sympathy, ministered to their needs, or won their confidence?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read John 10:1-5, 16.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What is the motivation for us to become Christ’s representatives to others for salvation?
c. Personal Application: Are you afraid to ask others to make a commitment to Jesus? How can that fear be overcome? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “I’m not afraid to share Christ and Bible truths with others. I just don’t find any opportunities. My daily activities and routine doesn’t bring me in contact with those who might need to hear this message.” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 14:6,7.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What is special about this message in Revelation 14:7 called the everlasting gospel? What does it mean to you?
c. Personal Application : Why aren’t we preaching the everlasting gospel with a loud voice and with energy and urgency considering the times we live in? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
