Paul and the Rebellion – Teaching Plan
Key Thought : It is important for us to share the hope we have in the resurrection in a world that is full of suffering, pain, and death.
Paul and the Rebellion, February 27 – March 4, 2016
1. Have a volunteer read I Corinthians 3:12-15.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What are some ways people’s work is pulling apart, enfeebling, or destroying the church?
c. Personal Application : How can we be sure that in all we do or say, we are building up, and not taking down the church? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “I don’t need to belong to a church or join any organization. I can follow Jesus without any church. Why does it matter if I belong to a church, or even which church?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read I Corinthians 12:22-26.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What is unity? How does a church demonstrate unity?
c. Personal Application : Do you feel like you are a part of the church family? Are your contributions being recognized and appreciated? Do you recognize others contributions? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “I don’t feel like I can do anything in the church. There are good singers, speakers, and leaders in the church already. What can I contribute? I’m not an up front person.” How would you respond to your neighbor?
3. Have a volunteer read I Corinthians 15:12-18.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. Why is it important to believe in the second coming of Christ and the resurrection of the dead?
c. Personal Application: How is Satan today leading people not to believe in the resurrection? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “There are many teachings about a Spiritual living after death, because the spirit doesn’t die. The body, which is carnal and evil, dies and wastes away, while the spirit, unencumbered with the sinful body, is now free to exist forever in purity.” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 6:11-17.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What does the armor represent? Can we have some of the armor, but not all of it?
c. Personal Application: How real is the battle we are engaged in? How prepared are we for the battle? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
