Crucified And Risen – July 2, 2016
1. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:8-13
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. Why was Eve tempted in three ways, and what does that reflect?
c. Personal Application : What are the ways that we live with the consequences of our sins everyday? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “What does it mean they realized they were naked? Didn’t they know that they weren’t wearing clothes before they sinned? This doesn’t make sense.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:14,15.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. When God told Satan He would put enmity between the woman’s seed and Satan’s seed, what did He mean?
c. Personal Application : How do you see this conflict going on in the community around you? Is the enmity still there? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “What does it mean that we were made in God’s image, after His likeness? Do we physically look like Him, or is this talking about our mental and/or spiritual powers?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Galatians 4:19.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What does it mean for Jesus to be formed “in us”?
c. Personal Application: In what ways do you see Christ restoring His image in you or in another person? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “A kind elderly lady came to me in church last week and said she was one of the 144,000 who were without fault before God. I didn’t know how to respond to her.” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Mark 2:1-5.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. How can we encourage people to find healing in the spiritual and physical areas of their lives? Do you think the two are related?
c. Personal Application : Who are the people in need of your help right now, help that you are specifically equipped to give? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
