Sabbath: Jesus, Provider and Sustainer
Read for This week’s Study: Heb. 1:3; Col. 1:16, 17; Job 42; Matt. 5:45; Matt. 6:25-34; Matt. 10:28.
Memory Text: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19, NIV).
God sustains the creation in such regular ways that the universe is sometimes compared to a machine that God left to run on its own.
Rather than a machine, however, a better metaphor is that the creation is like a musical instrument that God uses to produce the desired “melody.” That is, He is constantly involved in sustaining what He has created.
Nothing in the universe exists independently of the Lord. He created everything that was created. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3, NIV). Not only that, but He is the One who sustains it all. Even more astonishing, the One who created and sustains it all was the One who was crucified for us.
“The apostle Paul, writing by the Holy Spirit, declares of Christ that ‘all things have been created through Him, and unto Him; and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.’ Colossians 1:16, 17, R.V., margin. The hand that sustains the worlds in space, the hand that holds in their orderly arrangement and tireless activity all things throughout the universe of God, is the hand that was nailed to the cross for us.”-Ellen G. White, Education, p. 132.
Study this week’s lesson to prepare for Sabbath, February 23.
God is such a perfectionist; He made it all perfect and said "It is good" and saw it fit to still make provision for us if ever we fell. What a loving Father. What a kind Parent. Needless to say we NEVER deserved such. Till this day He still looks after us as we are His masterpiece Ephesians 2 v 10,Isaiah 46 v 16
May we never feel inferior to anyone because we were created by the great and marvelous God. My god is so great, so strong and so mighty there is nothing my God cannot do
Awesome love! How great is our God!
The analogy that "creation is like a musical instrument that God uses to produce the desired 'melody'" creates a mental picture of God's continual power sustaining His creation, because an instrument does not play without a player. And the analogy is good for that purpose.
However, it is an imperfect analogy, because there is an enemy who continually seeks to distort the melody by modifying the "instrument."
Without God we can not stand. as a provider He sustains us
I have always seen God's power in stories written or told. Today I have a new pictures as i have seen it with my own eyes in the prayer band.
At the mention of Jesus' name, the demons tremble; through His name demons are cast out; those who confess His name are set free.
He really is the creator, redeemer and sustainer of all.
I just love the Lord, He is a creator.Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. AMEN
God is an awesome God - he created us has seen us fall and still continues to love us and support us through the challenges of life in the hope of eternal salvation with Him and through Him
Thanks God for creating us - giving us life sustaining us and providing for us an answer to sin and destruction through salvation with Jesus
Fallen as we are,God loves, provides and sustains us.What a wonderful GOD
The analogy that “Creation is like a musical instrument that God uses to produces a desired melody” paints a picture that God is involved in that which he has created. Contrary to other human conceptions, God is involved in every facet of his creation and does not leave anything to chance. That which he created is for him and without him nothing was made. Everything was made for a purpose and he is above that which he has created meaning he created, provides and he sustains for his glory. Consider the lilies and the ravens! God in his wisdom, created from nothing, he provides from nothing and sustains when nothing seems possible.
Matthew 6:25 tells us not to worry about our needs and food we are going to eat tomorrow, this is a clear indication that our God is a caring God,ready to provide everything we need, how great is our heavenly father!!
Ps 24:1-2, the Bible tells us that "the earth is the Lord's and all it fullness, the world and thoses who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters"
If you come to think of it, which parent would bear childern and leave them to fend for themselves. Parents to be plan for their children even before they are born... these are mortal beings who think thus far. Imagine now the thoughts of our heavenly Father, the Infinite One, who allows us to breath His life on a daily basis. We live because of Him. Can He bring us into being and then neglect us...precious purchased possession. At the mention of His name, every knee should bow down! Marvelous are His ways He sustains us.
The creator of this world designed it for a purpose and so he wont leave it till all things be made accomplished. I also like the part that says He will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus”....soothing words for the lost souls.....
In deed God is really the creator of the universe.Thank you lord for proving yourself more and more through this lesson.i see no reason why some one will put all his trust on image that was created by God.God will help us Amen.
What a loving God who cares 4 his creatures day by day. Let's trust him, he is willing to give us even more than we think/ask 4.
Praise the Lord who are created Heaven and earth. He made everything perfect, just for us, so let us think what should we give to Him as our Savior? Jesus make a nice and sweet promise that He prepared again a room for us in Heaven and soon bring us back to new home in Heaven. Happy Sabbath and let us keep His commandments and have behavior and witnesses of Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven Amen.
This lesson makes our God closer and real than I have known before in the light of psalms 8:4 look at that.
We so easily acknowledge that God created us. Do we give equal thought to the fact that God sustains us daily, moment by moment? We surely do not acknowledge him often enough or give Him all the credit He deserves for maintaining our lives day by day
