Sabbath: The “Change” of the Law
Read for This Week’s Study: Rom. 8:1; Rom. 7:15-25; Rom. 7:1-14; John 20:19-23; Acts 20:6-7; Dan. 7:23-25; Rev. 13:1-17.
Memory Text: “He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time” (Daniel 7:25, NIV) .
Central to our understanding of last-day events is the question of the law of God. More specifically, it is the question of the fourth commandment, the seventh-day Sabbath. Though we understand that salvation is by faith alone and that keeping the law, including the Sabbath, can never bring salvation, we also understand that in the last days, obedience to God’s law, including the seventh-day Sabbath, will be an outward sign, a mark, of where our true allegiance lies.
This distinction will become especially obvious amid the climactic end-time events depicted in Revelation chapters 13 and 14, when an all-powerful conglomeration of religious and political forces will unite to enforce a false form of worship upon the inhabitants of the world. All this is in contrast to Revelation 14:7, where God’s people are called to “worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water” (NKJV) ; that is, to worship only the Creator and no one else.
This week we will look at the law of God, especially the Sabbath, and will touch on issues surrounding the attempted change of that law and what it means for us, upon whom the end is soon to come.
Study this week’s lesson to prepare for Sabbath, May 12.
The one who changes the law demonstrates he has authority over the one who has executed the law.
Satan, works to "change the set times and the laws" written with the finger of God.
But there is going to be group of people who will not be obedient to the law of satan.
Job 1:7-8
7 The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
Job 2:2-3
2 And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”
Why did he ask this question twice?
He wants Satan to acknowledge the earth is not under his control. There are people who are going to be obedient because of the love they have for their redeemer.
love and legalism will part company at the time of trouble.
Christ is saying have you considered [Newbegin Devaraj].
May we be found in Him to be called the true witness for Christ.
Who is the "he" that Dan 7:25 talks about who will talk against THE MOST HIGH and oppress HIS people?
The papacy
Keep your eyes focused on Jesus and the commandments of God.
Adventists, lets be awake and careful for this trouble that is coming ahead. we should be aware and prepare for it. Christ did not promise His Disciples and all those who will follow Him a smooth road ahead. but said in John 16:33 that in the world there will be tribulation and also in 2 Tim 3:12 All those who desire to live a godly life must be persecuted. And living a godly life is to follow His instructions esp the commandments (Sabbath) WE MUST WORSHIP HIM ONLY. Matthew 28:20 He will be with us at all times till the end of the age.
Ilove this lesson.Time to preach such messages on the pulpit is now. I can see the promised land is near and the devil is not at easy.He has brought false doctrines even the church is not preaching such messages.Oh..how can i go back to the old time religion?Sunday is not Sabbath but because prophecy has to be fulfiled let it be so.LETS HOLD ON TO THE TRUTH COZ THE TIME IS NEAR.
One day God will surprise us. The clock will stop ticking the time to prepare is now. The battle between Satan and God is on worship.Satan want to be worshipped and God also want to be worshipped. The choice is ours.
True, but I think that "worship" is only the tip of the issue. God wants us to be a reflection of his love and that is a whole lot more than which day we worship on. Living "in Christ" is the choice we have to make.
