Daily Lesson for Friday 10th of October 2025 Read Ellen G. White, “Crossing the Jordan,” Pages 482, 483, in Patriarchs and Prophets. After this story of Rahab and the spies, the rest of the Old Testament is silent about her until she emerges again in the genealogy of Jesus. It is stated that she became the … Continue reading –>

Introduction: How many times have other Christians told you that something was a “gray” area or that the matter was “complicated?” I’m often suspicious that comments like that are an attempt to avoid admitting that some activity is sinful. My go-to text, Deuteronomy 4:2, essentially says that something is either wrong in God’s sight or … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Surprising Grace

Joshua Makes League

Daily Lesson for Thursday 9th of October 2025 Read Joshua 9:21-27. How did Joshua’s solution combine justice with grace? Even if the people of Israel had wanted to attack the Gibeonites, they would not have been allowed to pursue it because of the oath sworn by the rulers of the congregation. The Israelite leaders acted … Continue reading –>

Joshua Talking With Men

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 8th of October 2025 Read Joshua 9:1-20. What are the similarities and differences between the story of Rahab and that of the Gibeonites? Why are they meaningful? This chapter of Joshua starts by informing us that the Canaanite kings who usually ruled over small city-states decided to create a coalition against … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 6, 2025 by Corinne KnopperOctober 6, 2025avatar

As we work our way through the book of Joshua this quarter, we will see that he is ready to  Fight The Good Fight – Hymn 613 and to move forward into the Promised Land. We may still use last quarter’s theme hymn as this will pop up throughout this quarter as well:  Hymn 620 – … Continue reading –>

October 11, 2025 1. Have a volunteer read Joshua 2:1, Numbers 13:1,2, 25-28, 33. Ask class members to share a … Continue reading –>

Spies Escape

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 7th of October 2025 Read Joshua 2:12-21 and Exodus 12:13,22-23. How do the texts in Exodus help you understand the agreement between the spies and Rahab? Rahab’s deal is very clear: life for life and kindness for kindness. The word cḥesed (Joshua 2:12), “loving-kindness,” has a richness of meaning that is … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
