Five hundred years ago, on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, a 33-year-old theology professor, posted his 95 Theses. This act of defiance became the spark that ignited the Protestant Reformation, and the world has never been the same since.
Luther wrote in his Commentary on Romans: “The Epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel, and is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul.”-Martin Luther, Commentary on Romans, translated by J. Theodore Mueller (Grand Rapids, Mich.: Kregel Publications, 1976), p. 8. [Links go to Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.uk]
The teachings in the letters to the Galatians and Romans inspired the Protestant Reformation – a reformation that we, as Seventh-day Adventists, are called to complete so that the truths of the Bible will shine forth in their purity.
The companion book for this quarter is by George Knight, entitled, Romans:Salvation for All. I (Inge Anderson) always enjoy George Knight’s writings because of his keen sense of irony which never fails to make me smile now and then. If you’ve read some of his books, you know what I mean.
You can read Kindle books on whatever device you are using to read this. I enjoy keeping books on my smart phone, because that way I can use spare minutes to good advantage. Enjoy!
