Ellen White’s Acts of the Apostles is an excellent resource for these lessons, particularly for the second half of the quarterly. Available in Kindle and paper formats. (US Link, Canadian link, UK link)

Dear Sabbath School members, we are almost finished with THE GOSPEL OF LUKE. What wonderful lessons. It would behoove us to keep in mind the life of Jesus as narrated by Luke, as we study biblical missionaries. They started after the out pouring of the Holy Spirit. My wife and I just started reading "Wounded In the House of His Friends" for devotion by Ron Duffield. We we will go back and read "Volume 1 of 'Return of the Latter Rain' and Volume 2 when it comes out, when we get done with that. 'Wounded in the House of His Friends is an interlude or summary to volume 1 while waiting for volume 2 to hit the press. Personially my goal this next quarter is to read 4 chapters of 'Acts of the Apostles' weekly and the last six weeks of the quarter read 5 weekly. We will all be bona fide missionaries by then, pending we follow through.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15
The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. Psalms 111:2
I put 'Acts of The Apostles' in my Play Book library.
I have enjoyed stories of modern missionaries through the years. Currently I am on 'Mission Pilot, the David Gates Story' by Eileen E. Lantry

I have keenly read the writer of this comment. I am newly married although not through a wedding but will legalize it soon. How sweet is it for a couple to read the bible or other VOP books together. I am currently reading Genesis. Unfortunately my wife does not like the idea of us discussing the word together. What can I do besides praying for her?
Praise the Lord if your wife is willing to read the Bible together with you. Perhaps she feels she does not know enough to "discuss" it. If I were you, I would not insist on "discussing." You can just share a little of what you think, and as you continue to read together, she may start to voice her ideas.
At first I didn't agree to discuss the Bible with my husband although we both read it daily and talk about it almost as regularly. Our efforts to discuss have at times lead to "meant to be tactful" criticisms of each other which obviously should not enter into Bible discussion or family study. God has enabled us to avoid this problem now. We just enjoy discussions and do not "point fingers"
You and your wife should speak honestly to one another, find out what the fear is or what is it she wants to avoid. Then pray, asking God to show you how to remove that hindrance to your discussion. He is faithful and true'
We all have arrived at where we are today via different routes. Just as when we gather at church on Sabbath we follow different routes. There is not a “right route” since westarted from different places. In discussions of the bible we each will have different perspective based on our past understanding (where we came from). Some may have driven longer, or perhaps driven several different routes and as such may have a more mature understanding and thus may be able to offer /share that understanding however that doesn’t mean that it is THE “Right” or “Only” understanding. What is important is that we strive to gain a fuller understanding and to live up to the knowledge that we have.
I suggest that you seek establish a relationship where no scores are kept; competitions ensure winners and losers. Better a loving relationship where each knows that they need to grow and enjoy the opportunity to grow and learn together. If you show that you are genuinely thrilled to hear and learn from your spouse, you demonstrate that their opinions matter which encourages them to share even more. A great benefit of a sharing relationship is one has the opportunity to view the world through the eyes of another. What a blessing!
I have been personally blessed by the lessons.
Reading the bible together as family is one of the most effective ways that lead to healthy relationship in families. We receive blessings in our life and our children learn reading and understanding the holy word.
