Lesson for August 29- Sep 4, 2015
Key Thought : God equips His followers for all types of service and ministry. We need to be willing and open to His leading.
1. Have a volunteer read Acts 6:1-7.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. How did the church deal with internal problems that arose?
c. Personal Application : What are some of the potentially divisive issues in your church and how can they be dealt with graciously? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “Why didn’t the disciples run the ministration, and why didn’t they choose any women to take care of the widows? Is it important to lay hands on people appointed to a ministry in the church?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Acts 8:1-6.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What was the result of the persecution of the church in Jerusalem and the stoning of Steven?
c. Personal Application : Do you think our church would be more zealous in evangelism and preaching if it were under persecution? Why or why not?” Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “Do you think that our adversities are God’s opportunities to use us to further the gospel in places we otherwise wouldn’t go, to people we otherwise wouldn’t preach to?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
3. Have a volunteer read Acts 8:26-31.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What are some ways we are prepared to be available for whatever service God calls us to?
c. Personal Application: What are some good ways to approach people to get them interested in Bible studies to learn more about the truths we can share? Share your thoughts..
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “In what ways does effective mission require us to be knowledgeable about the people we are trying to reach?” How would you respond to your friend?
4. Have a volunteer read Acts 21:7-10.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. In our work for others, why is it so important to never forget our obligation to our own families? Share.
c. Personal Application: How effective have we been in training our spouses and children to become evangelistically minded and able to share the gospel with others? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
